Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm now a touring musician, and hotels are not only incredibly expensive but they are also exceptionally boring. If I only get to spend 48 hours in a city, I want to get a meaningful perspective, I want to connect with new people and make memories. The reason I do what I do is my love of people and the art of interpersonal connection. Sharing stories, stepping into the home of someone else and getting and idea of who they are and how they live their lives, its such a wonderfully enriching experience and I want to have as much of that in my travels as possible.

Interests

Music and people, obviously, but I'm also into a variety of other eclectic/nerdy/artsy things. I used to play Dungeons and Dragons quite religiously before music took off, I studied acting for film and television while I was in school, I do a bit of painting and writing and baking and dancing.
A lot of my energy goes toward personal development. I'm always trying to better myself and the world around me. I'm a Reiki Master and work with a variety of energetic and intuitive healing techniques, I love learning about mind-body integration and understanding how our emotional lives impact our physical bodies.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been listening to a whole lot of random things since I started crowdsourcing my music on Spotify with a couple of large collaborative playlists, but when I get to pick the music its usually singer-songwriters and indie-rock bands.
I don't movie much these days despite my acting background but boy do I love my nerdy television shows. Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who. No that wasn't an accident, I just really love Doctor Who.
I've been listening to audiobook by Neil Gaiman pretty exclusively since I started touring, and my life has become much better for it. He is my new favourite author. Outside of that I love me a good YA dystopian future series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've decided to let go of job security in the name of following my passion. I quit my waitressing job, jumped in my car, and went on tour and it was the most amazingly rewarding experience I've ever had. A little chaotic, but absolutely life-changing. Now I'm living my passion and traveling around the country doing what I love. I can't think of anything I've ever done thats as amazing as that.
