ABOUT ME

I'm one of those people who is always hearing "where do you find the energy?" I do sleep, I swear. But I don't have a TV, and I'm really just curious about the world, love learning, love interacting with interesting people, love the sense of satisfaction that comes with creating things, figuring things out, and trying to leave a positive mark on the world. Despite needing to be 'out in the world' though, I'm really an introvert, and spend a lot of time by myself...reading, writing, running, driving, pulling weeds:)

PHILOSOPHY

Life for me is about discovery--of the world around me, and of myself. It's also about connection with people who teach me just by being themselves. I am a dramatically different person today than I was even 2 years ago, much less 10 years ago. I'm learning to live in the moment, and the more I do that, and stop analyzing the future or the past, the more I realize how precious every second of every day is. There is no waste of time unless I view it that way. There is no need to judge, but there is a need to accept. Every day is a new day, and an opportunity to change, learn, create a memory, do something good, and make someone smile.

Interests

Climbing, climbing and more climbing... Ok, I'm not that single-minded (all the time):) I also love to telemark ski, run, bike, travel, take photos, read, road trip around the southwest, and work on my never-ending remodeling project.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can never remember movies I have liked when asked... But if you name one I've seen, it will come flashing back and I'll say "oh yeah!" Music: Decembrists, Postal Service, Iron and Wine, '90s acoustic (Shawn Colvin, etc.), classic rock, classical piano and violin. Books: East of the Mountains, Snow Crash, I Thought My Father Was God, All Men are Mortal, Unbearable Lightness of Being, Dreams of my Russian Summers (RCM, i'm not copying you!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched Mt. St. Helens explode from my rooftop as a child. Sat in Mission Control during Shuttle/Mir flights in Moscow. Was the first American (or so I was told!) to ski at the Sheregesh ski hill in southern Siberia.
