About Me

Hi! My name is Daniel, 26 years old and I'm as tall as Dutch people get. I would describe myself as an open-minded and honest guy, but I do not get along well with people that are too concerned with their own image and wants. I'm pretty certain that the Netherlands is too small to spend all of my life, so I'm travelling the world to check out what it has to offer and meet people from different cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I set up this Couchsurfing account a couple years ago when I was traveling to the US and Canada. I haven't used it a lot to be honest, I usually opt for hostels when traveling. I plan to use it more when I get my own apartment, so I can also host other people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really into 90s hiphop/rap (Eminem, Dr. Dre, The Notorious B.IG., etc) and grungy type of rock (Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc). I can spend entire evenings searching for new songs and genres on Spotify though, so please share your favorite songs with me :)

I like movies with plot twists, and I truly enjoy the following TV series: Community, Silicon Valley, Twin Peaks (the old one), Dexter and Narcos.

Last year I bought an eReader, which turned out to be one of my best travel companions. I'm more into non-fiction than fiction, but I love dystopian books like Brave New World that seem to cross that distinction as humanity moves towards the future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Riding a husky sled, chasing northern lights and jump into thick layers of snow in Lapland, Finland.
Renting motor bikes in Viet Nam, experiencing the politeness and hospitality of people along the way.

Teach, Learn, Share

I set up my own company in translations and video subtitles, so I would be able to teach you Dutch or just chat about do's and don't's when it comes to starting a business.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Unfortunately I don't have my own apartment, but f you want to travel to the Netherlands, I'm very willing to guide you around and be a travel companion.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Finland, Taiwan, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
