About Me

CURRENT MISSION

second star to the right and straight on till morning.

ABOUT ME

Hey--I'm Katie, a young American woman who quit her job in this fine fine economy to travel and work for free. I've been WWOOFing in Ireland since September 2011 and it's been fantastic. Although I'm getting a little weary of mud and rain, I've met some wonderful people and feel like I have a constant growing pain in my brain from all the new things I've been learning. I like good food, booze, books and friends, and run stupidly long distances in exceptionally foul weather for fun.

PHILOSOPHY

learning to do what feels good/right instead of what I'm told I should do is scary but freeing.

Music, Movies, and Books

watch: anything with Marion Cotillard, Curb Your Enthusiasm, all the Harry Potters (I know, I know) read: Right now, reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. In general, everything. Rilke, Whitman, D.A. Powell, Lucille Clifton, Johnathan Safran Foer, Zadie Smith, Hunter S Thomspon, Cintra Wilson, Victor LaValle.listen: The Mountain Goats, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem, Johnny Cash, Al Green.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two old men playing the blues on beautiful guitars at the shelter I worked at back home. They were masters of what they did, just had their guitars talking to each other, back and forth. It a privelage to see.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can bake bread, mix drinks, harvest carrots. I'd love to learn how to drive a stick shift and speak Spanish.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Costa Rica, Greece, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
