Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been hosted as a non-member when I tagged along with my CS buddies. I have attended CS gatherings in Guadalajara, Mexico. I will one day have a couch of my own to host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I slept under a down comforter near Patzcuaro, Mexico in a lovely, art filled house in a small community called the Corazon de Durazno (Peach Pit), was treated to a lovely breakfast and some good conversation. This was my first experience with Couch Surfing and it was pure generosity and comfort.

CSers host good parties. I enjoyed meeting people who were just breezing through and with whom I got to spend an evenings worth on a Mexican rooftop.

Interests

Photography, film-animation, languages including Slovak, English and Chinese! Asian art, especially modern Japanese work and ancient temples of south east Asia. I enjoy participating in theater productions as an actor or as a guest.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow, not sure what I can limit this answer to. ONE of the most amazing things I've experienced was walking under a blazing sun, through the parched brush and swirling dirt of the Mexican Yucatan, to find a hole in the ground with a ladder sticking out of it...better finished in person.

Teach, Learn, Share

Worms are awesome garbage disposals. Create your own worm farm and use their nutrient rich by product (poop) to fertilize your garden, indoor plants or to simply reduce your food waste. GREAT PROJECT TO DO WITH KIDS!

1. find red wiggler worms (10-15 is all you need to start)
2. create an environment for them, its as easy as a large plastic bin with a lid, drilled with holes, filled with shredded newspaper and if you want to get fancy some coconut husks, if you don't have this, egg shells provide a good base for a beginning farm.
3. start separating organic waste which worms love to eat and turn into super rich compost.
4. leave out meat, cooked food, banana peels (a good base for fruit fly eggs)
5. put in all raw fruit and veggie scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags
6. once your worms get their eating on, rotate the soil a bit for aeration.
7. make sure your worm bin is out of direct sunlight and doesn't get too cold.
