ABOUT ME
Hey,
My names Katie. I enjoy lots of random stuff and having new experiences. Some of the random stuff I enjoy are books, the outdoors, traveling, yoga, beer, skiing, the performing arts, and enjoying life. I'm the kind of person who will try anything at least once; it's the best way to discover new things about yourself.
Now for a little bit of information about Matt. Matt and I met on a beach in Ghana, while I was studying abroad and he was volunteering. He is originally from Edinburgh (grew-up, studied, and played there) but now lives in London working as a social worker. He's a really kind person and completely down-to-earth. He can put a smile on anyone's face and has a very big heart. We both enjoy cooking, exploring our city and the world, and movies.
PHILOSOPHY
Leave no stone unturned. This motto has been the inspiration for the last couple years of my life. I've made my life about exploration. This exploration is of everything. I believe that through exploration we are better able to understand not only ourselves but our place in the universe. Karma plays a huge influence on the events that happens in ones life. Thus it is best to have good karma. Therefore, I try to help out others and the world as often as I can. It's so simple to have good karma. Things like not getting grocery bags, riding your bike, hosting CS, or adopting a dog all creates good karma.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I really enjoy hosting others. Its nice to get to meet new people. I try to host as often as I can. I have had the pleasure of always hosting really cool people. When I lived in Portland, ME I made all of my friends there through this site. I've had some really good experiences (and only one bad one). I even had the opportunity to take my dad Couchsurfing in South Africa, which was amazing. Its been a great experience and I hope to do more in the future. Its fantastic that CS gives you the opportunity to meet people from all over the globe.
When I host, one of my favorite things is to cook with them. I work full time so I may not have a lot of time to show you around during the day, but would really enjoy spending time with you during the evening either in London or Loughton.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've currently hosted many, many, many people both in Tahoe, CA and Portland, ME. I've also surfed in San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai, Malaysia, Xi'an, South Africa, and Germany. However, this will be Matt's first time as an official couchsurfer and we're both looking forward to having some great adventures together.
Interests
I basically enjoy anything that has to do with being outside. I'm currently working on my MA in Modern Literature so books are totally my thing. It makes me excited to read books about places and then visit those places or to have a good conversation with someone about a book or any other deep subject. As I've gotten older, I've lost interest in drinking all night and much rather prefer a quiet evening at home cooking, talking, and just relaxing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books. Well....I'm an English major so I've read many books. My favorite book is often whatever book that I'm reading at the moment. My tastes in books, music, and movies fluctuate greatly. I am open to anything. I would love to hear about good books you've read lately.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing things I've ever done is travel including jumping off the world's highest bungee bridge, African safari, motorcycling in Laos, or just exploring all the great cities of Europe.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm really good at making sushi or American pancakes and I would love to learn a new language or new recipes!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Ever had American pancakes? Well I can cook (not as well as my husband) but quite well. I also have tons of good stories and can engage in interesting conversations on a whole range of subjects.
