About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Traveling back to Argentina to see friends in BsAs, then on to check out Salta and then to Brazil. I like the idea of couch surfing because I think staying with local people gives you more of a feel for a place, and you get to know local spots.

ABOUT ME
I grew up in a small town in Indiana bred to love of basketball and corn on the cob. I spent 4 years studying various subjects at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, finally settling on journalism. Upon graduation realized that wasn't it. After a year back in Indiana I set out for the Big City, New York City. I spent 5 years there finding myself, living in Jersey, Manhattan, Queens, and finally falling in love with Brooklyn. I worked as a project manager in advertising, what you might consider babysitting for adults. I loved the creative energy and the great interesting people I met.

I took my first solo trip to Costa Rica in 2007, and have wanted to travel long-term for years. I left a great life in New York for a year on the road, realizing my passion for Spanish language and wanting to experience and learn about other cultures. Wanting to see more of my own country before setting out, I took a 2.5 month cross-country bicycle trip in the States, I set off for Guatemala to study Spanish, then traveled through Chile, Brazil, Argentina (lived in BsAs), Bolivia, and Colombia, soaking up all I could about the culture.

I now live back in NYC, and travel and adventure when I can.

PHILOSOPHY

This moment is all I have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have met a lot of people through CS, and love the idea of seeing new places from the couch of a local. I think it's a great way to get to meet new people, and learn more about the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't couch surfed yet, but I'm looking forward to doing so.
I have met people through the site, but have yet to sleep on a couch. Am hoping to start in early 2012 traveling in South America.
