About Me

ABOUT ME

Currently working in academic research. Constantly on the move, taking the opportunities that life brings to me. In love with Portugal and Portuguese culture.

PHILOSOPHY

"Philosophy" is a very big word. I don't have one. Of course, I do have a lot of ideas about how to live a happy life, but they are not definite.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At present only surfing. Hope to host in the near future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although I created my profile some time ago (2009), I started to explore CS much later (first CS experience in September 2011). So far, all the people were very helpful and kind. I managed to learn a lot about myself and the world thanks to all of them :)

Interests

See below: movies, music, books.
(Contrary to majority of couchsurfers I don't enjoy cooking. I do my best to start to like it... no results so far... Though I love to help in the process of preparation - cutting, cleaning, chatting - when someone else is in charge :)

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES

I am very keen on Polish cinema, especially movies produced in the time of "Polish Cinema of Moral Concern". If it comes to specific titles and directors, here is a short list of movies I can watch over and over again: "Noz w wodzie" (Polanski), "Krotki film o zabijaniu" (Kieslowski), "Barwy ochronne" (Zanussi), "Pociag" (Kawalerowicz). But as you are probably not familiar with the surnames and titles, I also list some foreign productions that I value a lot: "Hair" (Forman), "Trainspotting" (Boyle) "Beautiful Mind" (Howard), "Leaving Las Vegas (Figgis), "Forrest Gump" (Zemeckis), "Black Hawk Down" (Scott)... Remember - these are only examples!

MUSIC

As above, I am listing just a few examples from my playlist (when I was a teeneager I used to listen only to punk rock, but with time I became more open towards any kind of music): Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Arctic Monkeys, The Cure, Nigel Kennedy, Goran Bregovic, Hocus Pocus, MGMT, Manu Chao, Kate Bush, Placebo...
The best song ever (+video!): "High hopes" by Pink Floyd

BOOKS

Short stories (Kafka). Classics (Bulhakov, Orwell). My choice to take on a desert island would be something polish - "Tango" (Mrozek)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't think of anything particularly amazing. I've done some interesting things in my life (e.g. Balkan trip!; moving out of my country to start a new life somewhere else; some great concerts that I've been to...) but I am not able to point out this one particularly amazing thing, which means that it's still to come (hope so). Or maybe this amazing thing is just the life happening every day?

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching and learning sounds a bit like being at school. I'd like to share: interests, thoughts, experiences, etc. etc.
