ABOUT ME

My name is Jiri and I am working at the Masaryk University Campus Library as a librarian where I am specialized in the information literacy activities. I am also Ph.D. student at the Faculty of Arts, I study the Czech literature. My hobbies: books, music, movies. I am typical Czech human: at first I seem to be a conservativ and introvert, but when I get know other people, they find I am friendly, I like going on Czech beer with my friends, talking about their lives etc.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is to live and work honestly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can show to anyone my home city Brno and its surrounding, if my parents will agree I can let one or two persons stay at my home for a few days (max. week).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have actually no experience with couchsurfing.

Interests

According to couchsurfing I am interested in meeting the people from foreign countries and talking with them about their country and habits. Of course I am interested in getting my English better.

Books: Adrian Mole´s diaries, books by Boris Vian, Charles Bukowski, Jiri Kratochvil, Milos Urban, Bohumil Hrabal, Karel Capek, comics (Conan, Kaja Saudek) etc. etc.

Movies: by directors Jim Jarmusch, Kevin Smith, Spielberg, George Lucas, with actors like Rudolf Hrusinsky, Vladimir Mensik, Ewan McGregor etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

What amazing I have seen: Cadiz in Spain and safety life in Sweden (Karlstad).

What amazing I have done: me and my colleagues wrote electronic book Methodology of the bibliographic references creation (http://is.muni.cz/elportal/?id=895998) and create e-learning course on Information literacy.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can uncover and explain Czech mentality and history, teach drinking Czech beer (not to getting drunk but explain what the beers are quality).

Learn: I would like to learn the habits of foreign people and get better my English in practical communication.

Share: What easy - I can share my life and work experience.
