About Me

I live in Seattle when I'm not traveling (Seattle is truly the best place on Earth!). I will be passing through the Mediterranean and who knows where else for the next 6 months. My main jam is rock climbing - even better if beaches are involved!

I'm always looking for climbing partners. That bears repeating - I'M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR CLIMBING PARTNERS 😄

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hate it when I leave a town feeling like I've only scratched the surface...it usually has to do with not really having connected with anyone there. Couchsurfing is an amazing way to combat that feeling and actually really get to know people.

Interests

I'm an intensely curious person! You can always find me under the water, on the wall or with my nose in a book. I like to climb, scuba dive, walk walk walk, learn...

I started meditating about a year and a half ago and it changed my life, so I've definitely got a little bit of hippie in me. I try to live my life very intentionally and thoughtfully, and I try to pay close attention to the beauty around me. I super appreciate others who share a similar philosophy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a LOT, so it's really hard to pick! My main themes are beautiful literature, adventure auto/biography, science fiction. Here is a random sample of books I recently enjoyed:
A Little Life, Hanya Yanagihara
The Three-Body Problem, Cixin Liu
Island Beneath the Sea, Isabel Allende
Big Dead Place: Inside the Strange and Menacing World of Antarctica, Nicholas Johnson
Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life, William Finnegan
... and on and on and on

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing things I've seen include the view from the top of Half Dome in Yosemite, the mosaics Church of Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg, a foggy Huayna Picchu, and the Trinity Library long room in Dublin. Manmade and natural treasures alike delight me.

I'm also a cyborg - I have cochlear implants. This has made my life strange and wonderful in more ways than I can count.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a seasoned user experience researcher and designer (when I'm not on the road, anyway). I know a hell of a lot about technology, psychology, and philosophy. I reckon we could have a good conversation about any of these.

I've spent months on the backpacker trail - ask me for tips and tricks.

I've heard again and again that I give great life advice. Maybe I should be a life coach.
