About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Never looking back, or too far in front of me: The present is gift, and I just wanna be.
ABOUT ME
I am energetic, driven, friendly and funny.
I love sports (I swam and played soccer in college, eating (no, not cooking. Luke does the cooking. I just like eating.) and laughing.
After finishing two years as a high school science teacher in St. Louis, MO and fighting with my students for the dream, I moved out west to Colorado where I worked in the mountains for a year and then lived in Denver for a year. Now, I'm pursuing a PhD in Developmental and Psychological Sciences at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, still fighting for equality in education.
I live with my boyfriend Luke who works at a website called Healthgrades.com and we are loving being in California.
PHILOSOPHY
Strong lives are motivated by dynamic purposes.
First with the head, then with the heart. That's how one gets ahead from the start.
Those that respect the law and love sausage should watch neither being made.
I live my life for others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am so excited to be a part of the CS community and I'm looking forward to meeting new people, sharing my knowledge of my various homes, and getting unparalleled insight into other parts of the world through the people that know it best.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have traveled with friends and CouchSurfed in Europe (Italy and Greece). I hosted a few CSers while I was living in St. Louis as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm obsessed with Ingrid Michaelson and John Legend.
I love love LOVE Jonathan Safran Foer's books.
I fall asleep during most movies... but Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet is absolute genius.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've lived and studied for 6 months in Mali (Bamako, the Dogon region) and fell in love with West Africa. I've traveled a little elsewhere in Africa to visit family (Kenya, Burkina Faso) as well.
I spent a summer a few years back in Ecuador working at a hospital delivering babies. It was amazing.
This past summer I WWOOFed on a small farm on the island of Paros in Greece and learned so much about organic farming and living.
Teach, Learn, Share
If we could all live our lives by Teaching, Sharing and Learning, this world would be a far more understanding place.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Luke and I can share stories, tips/tricks, and genuine warmth with anyone who enters our home.
