ABOUT ME
My background is in environmental studies and community development. I have done a lot of volunteer work in the past, especially related to environmental restoration and outreach. I'd like to try and travel more now that I've settled into a regular job after finally finishing with college. I feel like there is so much to learn by this and I need to open myself up to the possibilities.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to live simply and generally have a live and let live philosophy. I have also come to realize that often the things we fear doing the most are often the things we need to do for ourselves.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I wouldn't mind meeting for drinks or coffee in Seattle if you are in town and want to get oriented. My work keeps me in touch with a lot of what's going on in the city so I could definitely show you around. I'm more available on weekends than weekdays since I work full time at an office job. As for couch availability, I live in a small studio apartment so I'm afraid my hospitality will have to consist only of meeting up for activities and sightseeing.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Have stayed w/friends in Olympia Washington (USA), Eugene Oregon (USA) and Fukuoka Japan. Stayed w/friends of friends in Fresno CA (USA) and San Francisco CA (USA) Some locally when I was much younger and semi-homeless. Also had a great stay in Switzerland with a nice couple I met through this site.
Interests
Movies, books, and travel. I am a weekend outdoor adventurer as well. We have great hiking in our region and I recently added mountain scrambling and snowshoeing to my regular list of activities.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite books I've read lately (updating this Feb 2017) are by Seattle Author Jamie Ford. I usually like historical fiction and books that really get into the psychology of their characters. When I was younger, Yukio Mishima and Dostoevsky were favorites. I also tend to read a lot of nonfiction related to whatever my interest of the day is.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hopping a freight train across the state was one of the most spontaneous stunts I remember pulling. It was part of a week long trek where I learned just how generous people from all walks of life can be. I'll never forget all those strangers who fed me or gave me shelter along the way.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have always been fascinated by people who travel and are willing to share and learn from their experiences with cultural differences. I started travelling more the last couple years myself and really enjoy meeting people from all over.
What I Can Share with Hosts
