Overview
About Me
It's 15 years now that I've been on Couchsurfing and I guess I've changed a lot over those years. My hair is getting greyer and thinner, for a start. But I'm chilled about that. It is what it is.
I'm an English teacher who loves his work. I grew up in Brighton, England, but these days I live and work in France. Before moving here, I lived in Slovenia, Italy and Spain.
I'm always relaxed. I don't do stress.
I was fortunate enough to have a book published, called Gatecrashing Europe. It's mostly about a Couchsurfing adventure I undertook a long time ago now. It's not the greatest book in the world but hey ho.
When I'm not working I like to spend my time writing, running, learning different languages, seeing new places with my wife, playing and/or watching football, and meeting new people from different parts of the world and getting to know a little about them and the place they come from.
PHILOSOPHY
"If you haven't seen it, go and see it."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've made some great friends through CS. I don't just mean 'friends' in a passive way, I mean proper mates til the end. Couchsurfing people are my people.
Interests
Languages fascinate me, grammar in particular.
I'm in love with the land of Bosnia.
I play football.
I like to meditate when I can find the time.
Music, Movies, and Books
Books: The greatest book I've ever read is A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry.
I also love George Orwell, Anthony Loyd, Hunter S Thompson, Paul Theroux's travel stuff, Bill Bryson, Charles Bukowski, Heinrich Böll, to name but a few.
Music: I love my tech-house and minimal techno. And psytrance. Also: Cat Stevens, Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Young, the Doors, Elvis, Bruce Springsteen, Anoushka Shankar.....
