About Me

I am a simple guy, well-educated, low maintenance and quite talkative at times. I love to engage people in conversation. I can be a great listener if one wishes to share their ideas or stories. I am always open to new experiences and don't take offense for anything. People tend to get comfortable with me easily. Though I try to keep things organized if under my control, having lived in a cheap hostel for long time has made me kind of indifferent to what I eat and under what conditions I live. I am quite full of energy and spirit when I travel but I also like to have some quiet moments once in a while for introspection.

I can be philosophical, scientific, artistic, funny, strong, theatrical or business minded. I am kind of a character chameleon and can easily mix with all kinds of people. Some find me very outgoing, social and talkative while others think of me as a recluse. I think that I am a mix of both and at different times, different colors dominate my character. It takes quite a while to know all aspects of my personality. In all my moods, I am a good person, respectful of everybody's background, faith and interests.

If I host people, I leave it for them to decide how much time they want to spend with me and when I surf, I try to change as little as I can in their routines. I am always happy to meet new people and make friends. If you choose to stay with me, I may not be able to provide the most comfortable of an accommodation to all my guests, but I can promise that you will be safe. You can decide how much time you want to spend with me, and about myself, I love to talk. Also, I won't judge you on anything, and you can feel like you are at your home. :)

When people chat in big groups or play group games, I tend to speak little at the beginning. Though this might make people think that I am not enjoying, this is my way of enjoying in groups. I am what might be called a shy extrovert in big groups. However, after a while and as I get to know people, I participate more actively in group activities.

I am interested in a lot of different things. In particular, I enjoy playing music a lot. I am a Travis fingerpicking style guitarist and a drummer. I, in general, do not follow sports but I have practiced martial arts for a substantial time in the past. My martial arts instructor was an expert in breathing. Believe it or not, but a good strong breathe can purge your system like nothing else. I have acquired some skill level in breathing from my instructor. I also do Latin dancing and have also done mountaineering school in Himalayas.

I am a positive minded person and I hardly ever say I can't. To sum it all up, you could like me.

PHILOSOPHY

"Call me the breeze, I keep on blowing down the road. I ain't got me nobody, I don't carry me no load." I might go out to Russia, might go down to Georgia, I don't know. Call me the breeze, where I blow is home.

I classify my contacts in two groups: one of those with whom I will always be good and another of those who I am indifferent to.

One cannot be in my "bad people" book as I believe that bad people don't exist. There are only good people who sometimes end up doing bad things. I try my best to avoid being in "bad people" book of others.

Music, Movies, and Books

With a fun company, I can enjoy all sorts of music, movies or books but when I am by myself:

I tend to avoid romantic comedies as I have seen far too many growing up. (Not that I am a boring person. It's just that I have watched most of the good ones all ready.) I prefer to watch movies with at least a bit of serious slant - scientifically, philosophically or otherwise. I tend to like stories with strong supporting characters.

I enjoy listening to all sorts of music but lyrics seldom interest me. Most of the times, I prefer listening to music with an intense rhythmic or melodic feel. Consonance is good, dissonance is better, funk is first love, swing is second, latin gets me on my feet and hard rock brings the beast out of me.

I love reading although of late, I have not been able to dedicate much time to it. I read and enjoy all sorts of books including very technical ones.

If I start on something that interests me- movies, books or TV series, I like to finish them in one sitting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Did a coastal trek of around 200 kms along the east coast of India. Saw sunrise and sunset in isolated spots along the coast for four days, stayed at small fishermen villages and walked in quiet along uninhabited coastline. It was fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am told that I am a good teacher and I can teach various subjects in sciences as I have a diverse research and educational background. I have taught University level physics and mathematics for a long while. I also teach programming. I am a mathematical biologist by my research experience and an engineer by training.

I also teach how to play guitar and drums including fundamentals of music theory and rhythms.
