Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before it was cool I couchsurfed for 16 months, relying on the generosity of my friends. There is not one particular event that stands out. I enjoyed my time with all of them and also knew when to give them their space.

Interests

I love people, travel, food and life in no particular order. I'm a photographer by trade, a traveler by necessity, lover by choice. I enjoy movies, books, hikes and doing a whole lot of nothing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The amazing people, places and events when I travel still leave me with a huge smile on my face.

Paris- lost in Paris sitting on a park bench with my map. A woman said something to me in French and I broke down in tears "I don't know French" she smiled and asked "are you lost" then sat down with me to help me find where I wanted to go. She walked me the mile to the place I was seeking and gave me some advice " all us French people need is a smile and a thank you".

Peru- wandering the side street I passed a doorway and heard guitar music flowing from inside. I just had to stop and see where it was coming from. It was a small shop and the shop keeper was entertaining herself. She stopped as soon as I walked in. I gestured for her to continue as I couldn't speak the language. She declined but handed it to me. So I played the only song I know by heart on the guitar. 'puff the magic dragon'. I played my heart out and then handed her the instrument. She played such a lovely tone and for 15 minutes no one else in the world existed.
