Overview
About Me
I am a chilled out Canadian. I enjoy travelling to meet new people and experience some culture other than the typical north American thing. I like adventure and am comfortable not having a destination. I have worked many jobs so I enjoy taking a break to be a student. I love being around live music and interesting people; people who have something to say. I am opinionated on many subjects and I love to debate, though I in never take anything personally. I prefer conversations with friends rather than a noisy bar, but I can enjoy both.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on couch-surfing because it is the best way to meet locals while travelling and to host people from all over the world when at home. It's fun and easy to use. Hostels are also great but their different: you meet cool people but usually other travelers. Couchsurfing can put you in touch with local people who really know whats up!
Interests
Travelling and experiencing new things! I love the outdoors and would spend all my time hiking if I could. I am interested in politics but even more interested in strong communities.
I like gardening and biking and cooking (with red and orange spices); rock climbing; history (of everywhere but especially classical Mediterranean); community initiatives; herbal tea; social justice; environmental justice; dumpster diving; anything DIY; carpentry; geography; urban planning; GIS; the NDP; a bunch of ism's; sustainable energy; sustainable communities; info-graphics; some TV; some movies; my university; alternative archaeology; alternative economics; cooking for the masses
Sometimes it feels like like the both American culture has covered the entire planet so it is such a relief to meet some people who are doing something different.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While couchsurfing with an olive farmer in Crete in January it snowed almost a foot and it got so cold that all the water pipes froze. We had to melt snow to get drinking water and burn pine-cones to stay warm!
I started a small micro-green's business with a friend one summer. We sold micro-greens at community markets and even to a organic market. I learned so much.
I have several-times made enough banana bread to feed over a 100 people!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach: Some French; lots of English; my personal (marxist) perspective on the global economy; urban gardening including balcony gardens; DIY projects
I want to learn: more French; entrepreneurial skills; outdoor skills; fine cooking; permaculture skills; writing skills;
What I Can Share with Hosts
I promise to be clean, respectful, and tidy. I am happy to contribute food and to make you some banana bread. I can fix the trim around your windows, unclog your drains, stiffen up your old furniture, and help you start a garden.
