About Me

I am an American student, a feminist, a humanist, a belly dancer, a casual artist, a listener. I can be reserved, sometimes blunt, but open-minded. I am studying international studies and international business. While I am from Charleston, SC, I am studying abroad in Innsbruck, Austria in the Spring of 2016! Wish me luck!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to live my life to the very fullest. I know that I can be a bit shy, so if I want to achieve my dream of truly living, I need to put myself out there. To meet new people, have amazing experiences. If you're willing to let near-strangers into your home, you're probably a wonderful person. I'd love to get to know you, learn how to live life from you.

Interests

I love art. I love history, too. I also love cats and drag shows. I love finding the beauty in everything. I love people in love.

I am learning to play ukulele. :)

If you are an artist of any sort, visual, musical, etc., you have my utmost respect, and I would love to see/hear what you create!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I am mostly fond of Indie/Folk, but 80's rock and synthpop are close to my heart. I do enjoy instrumental guitar, violin, and such, as well! I'm always open to listening to new music. Right now I'm on an Amanda Palmer streak.

Movies: I have a soft spot for the Princess Bride. I also adore The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Road to El Dorado, Amelie, and The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Books: Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace. The Art of Asking, by Amanda Palmer. Hamlet, by Shakespeare, Invisible Cities, by Italo Calvino.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked the trenches in the Battlefield of the Somme (wwi), near Albert, France.
Sung at Carnegie Hall, New York, in a choir.
Marched in the 2015 San Fransisco Pride Parade.
Tour through Plitvice lakes and waterfalls in Croatia
Climbing on the cliffs of the Calanques in France

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can give you a wonderful rendition of how the first day of the Battle of the Somme went down. I can also whistle like a bird, and belly dance. Probably not at the same time. But I can teach you a few belly dancing moves, if you'd like!

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

Austria, United States
