I'm Krista, currently a 3rd year college student studying psychology and neuroscience. My plans after I graduate are as of yet undetermined, but I am looking into continuing school to study clinical psychology or law. I was born and raised in the United States but am a 2nd generation immigrant from Latvia. I am fluent in Latvian and actively participate in the Latvian-American community to preserve the language and the culture. I like anything and everything related to the arts; I practice both film and digital photography, attend concerts and performances, and love visiting museums. Having a sense of humor is also a very big part of my life, as I am in Boston College's premiere sketch comedy group ("Hello...Shovelhead!") and write for the school's satirical newspaper ("The New England Classic"). Ever since I took a 3 week cross-country roadtrip along the west coast of the U.S., I've been itching to travel anywhere and everywhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I decided to join Couchsurfing because I've lived and grown in the same town in Indiana for my whole life and I decided it was time to branch out. I had the realization that, no matter how many hours I spend sitting in the classroom, I could learn so much more if I go out and experience the world. I'm eager to see new sights and meet new people, beyond just the popular tourist attractions. Even the smallest differences in how people live out their daily lives in different areas fascinates me. Being a current full-time student with a budget, I'm seeking an affordable way to see all the places I've only ever read about previously.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste is very broad and diverse. I host a weekly radio show in Boston at WZBC-Newton 90.3 FM, where I play psych rock. Beyond this, I listen to all forms of rock (surf rock, soft rock, etc.), pop, indie, and folk. Some of my favorite artists are Post Animal, Tame Impala, Jukebox the Ghost, and Foster the People, to name a few.
I've never been very much into movies but I'm trying to get more into them, and am open to suggestions! I'm a big fan of movies with nice aesthetics in addition to the plot. Some of my favorites that I've seen are Kill Your Darlings, We Need to Talk About Kevin, and Enter the Void.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm an avid photographer and always make an effort to record my trips in any way I can. If you want any particular pictures of either yourself or your hometown taken, I'll be happy to do it! I'm not much of a cook myself but I am a rather neat and organized person and will surely help with cleaning when needed.
