About Me

I love to travel, try new things, and meet new people. :)

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest in a suburb outside of Seattle and attended the University of Washington in Seattle.

I studied abroad in Cadiz, Spain and ended up double majoring in Spanish (I'm also a journalism major). I fell in love with the Spanish culture (everyone should adopt siestas into their routine) and traveled around Europe whenever I had the chance. I lived with a Spanish family and bartneded at a local bar, which is something I'd always wanted to do.

Upon graduating I worked with MLB.com (Major League Baseball) and the Seattle Mariners baseball team in media relations and social media. I am a HUGE Mariners and baseball fan so this was a lifelong dream fulfilled (I got to be on the field when Felix Hernandez threw his perfect game!!).

After the MLB season I found myself living in Sydney, Australia, working for the Australian Baseball League (owned by MLB International). The job only offered a small American stipend and Sydney is very expensive, so I lived in a three bedroom apartment with a total of nine people, sharing a room with three other girls. Once my new Canadian friend moved out, I was the only native English speaker. I lived with people from all over the world (Dubai, Papa New Guinea, Germany, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Sweden). I loved learning about everyone's cultures and helping out with English when I could (reading over resumes, answering questions of "how do you say this?" etc.). Since I know what it's like to live in a foreign country where you don't fluently speak the native language, I definitely understood the struggles and have a lot of patience. When the Australian baseball season ended, my best friend from work and I spent a month "backpacking" (okay so we had giant over-packed rolling suitcases in addition to our day packs) the Australian East Coast from Cairns (Great Barrier Reef!) back down to Sydney. We met so many amazing people from across the globe who were on year long trips and that only inspired me to travel more. I loved living in Sydney and visiting all of the beautiful places along the east coast (especially Whitsundays - highly recommend a sail trip there!).

Once I ran out of money I returned home in search of a "real job" (one that wasn't seasonal & would pay a real salary - mostly I wanted to save more money so I could travel again). I searched all over the US for a job in sports but when my mom was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer I switched my search to stay local. I ended up working in social media as a vendor for Microsoft and worked there for three years. I also became a certified yoga instructor and I love teaching yoga sculpt. My mom passed away last June and I was her primary caregiver in her final three months. It sucked to watch someone I love suffer so much and I hope no one ever has to go through what my mom and family did. In her honor and now memory, I've helped raise thousands of dollars for ovarian cancer awareness and education.

On a lighter note, I love to dance and make people laugh. I have the biggest sweet tooth! I enjoy being outdoors (especially in the sun).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To experience new places like a local. To make new friends! To learn and to share!

In 2017 my (then) boyfriend and I quit our jobs to travel the world and start a travel blog (go4theglobe.com, instagram @go4theglobe). We couchsurfed all across the globe.

I just booked a one-way ticket to Chiang Mai in November 2019 solo, time for a new adventure!
