About Me

My Mission

See as much of the world as I can in an attempt to figure out exactly where "home" might be.

About Me

I'm back in the suburbs Maryland, after having lived in Boston for three years and Madrid, Spain for two. Needless to say, I'm not thrilled to be back, but I'm having a hard time committing to where I'll go next (though I keep coming back to New Zealand). So, I'm trying to figure it out.

My Philosophy

My philosophy all comes back to the mindset that every person can alter the direction of your life in some way, if you're open enough to let them. That, coupled with the fact that my job is entirely remote, allows me to once again go travel around the country (and countries of surrounding time zones) to find the people and places that I'd like to perhaps eventually call home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I Participate:

I want to engage more with people when I travel. The past couple of years have had lots of trips with friends, so while we did meet other travelers, expats, and locals, that wasn't a priority. In 2020 though I'll be moving to New Zealand, and I want to meet people as I travel.

Couchsurfing Experiences:

I used to attend events in the Boston area. However, most of my CS experiences come in the form of meeting up over coffee with travelers passing through. I've met some great people so far. I have actually CSed in Reykjavik; that whole trip was incredible and speaks to the beauty of this site.

Interests

I love food, coffee, wine.

I'm taking this year (2020) to step away from my laptop and my digital marketing career, to try to engage with interests and passions that I have, but have never actively pursued.

This will be a year of working with my hands; of gardening, of learning about permaculture, of building fences, mending buildings, and working with animals.

I'm hoping to learn more about viniculture, and be able to work on wineries. I want to go back to working as a barista, and be able to make a killer flat white. I want to be physically tired at the end of my days, from using my body as well as my mind.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love Actually, Pride and Prejudice, Parking Lot Movie, Black Swan, Spanish Apartment, Crash, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Up, Amor Es Perros

Mumford and Sons, Noah and the Whale, Bon Iver, Ben Howard, Daughter, Hozier. My friends call this "sad bastard music" but I'm a pretty happy person!

The Geography of Bliss.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked across the Charles Bridge (Praha) during sunrise with my best friend. It was just one of the most surreal moments.

Trekked across a frozen pond/stepping stones in the snow to find a hidden 3 person hot spring in the middle of Iceland.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to make a mean red curry.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My overall sunshiney personality. Silly drinking stories. Endless expressions (I'm incapable of a poker face so you always know exactly what's on my mind - for better or for worse)

Countries I’ve Visited
