About Me

I love to travel. Every summer I go to the beach in either Florida or Texas with some friends and play sand volleyball and go boogie boarding. In the summer of '15 my family and I went to California and Mexico for a couple weeks. In the summer of '16 we spent a month where my dad is from - the Faroe Islands. On the way there we had an 18 hour layover in Iceland, rented a couple vehicles, and toured all along the southern coast. On the return leg, we had a 20 hour layover in Copenhagen. We spent several hours downtown, and then crossed the bridge to Sweden and spent a couple hours with my cousin there.
In January of '17, I took two of my sisters to Cancun for a week. We spent most of our time on the beach and visiting ancient Mayan ruins.
In August of '17, I took two of my sisters (different sisters) to France for 10 days. We drove all throughout the countryside, visiting Mont St Michel, many of the châteaux in the Loire, and spent the last few days in Paris.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm visiting Dubai and Cairo during my school's Thanksgiving break (a US holiday). I'll be traveling solo this time. As an extrovert, I thought Couchsurfing would be an excellent opportunity to meet people.

Interests

I love playing sports. Since I'm taking some pretty heavy loads at school, I'm unable to play as much as I'd like. But this year I've already played in an American football league, volleyball league, several volleyball tournaments, and several soccer (association football) leagues. I've also played rugby and baseball and run track.
Music is also a big passion of mine. I enjoy playing piano and singing in a choir.
I also enjoy nerdy board games, like Terra Mystica, Caverna, Puerto Rico, Power Grid, etc. And of course, Chess.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music. My favorite genres would be classic rock, uplifting trance, and light rock (think Coldplay or The Killers). I also enjoy symphonic metal, rap, pop, punk rock, and classical.

My favorite movies are those in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I would love to go to New Zealand someday!

I don't read much. Mostly the Bible and engineering books for school. If Wikipedia could count as a book, then I'd include anything historical, geographical, and political.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not that it's uncommon, but I'm graduating this semester with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. It'll have taken me 3 years, and I'll very likely graduate Summa cum laude.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Although the use of CS helps save on lodging costs, I realize that hosting comes at a cost of both time and resources. I would like to mitigate those costs by paying for any food, travel, or entertainment costs that would be incurred during my stay.
Without any CS history, I realize I would be considered a "high-risk" guest. Because of this, I thought it would be good to be clear about how I would show our appreciation to my host.
