About Me

*please read first*: I am NOT interested in hook-ups - CS is not a dating platform!

Hello and welcome to my page,

as most of you have already guessed my name is Kristina and I am from Austria. I have been born and raised here, though I lived within and travelled back and forth the US for a while. I have always loved travelling, no matter to which country or for what specific reason, yet I don't always take the time to go for it.

I graduaded from University in 2016 as an elementary school teacher - yes, I am lucky enough to be able to follow my profession with all of my heart. I am still studying within my master studies, love tutoring and am always working on some voluntary projects.

I am a very creative, open-minded, trustworthy, polite person with a strong affection for arts, cooking, DIY-projects, hot chocolate, crafting in general and last but not least books. Further I absolutely love cats (I have two kitties myself :) ).

Since I am sharing a house with my parents (might sound lame to some of you, but I am very fond of my family and spending time together is mostly fun), I cannot offer to host right now. However, I would love to meet up, have a nice chat and get to know your culture, your language and (of course) your personality.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Actually, I have been registered here for quite a while because I kind of liked the thought of travelling to a foreign country, getting to meet new people and seeing the city from their perspective. Yet, I guess life has had other plans and has gotten in my way. As I recently came across this webside again, I decided it would be a great New Year's resolution to finally go for it.

Interests

Generally speaking there is pretty much nothing that cannot evoke my fascination. I cannot really name a single hobby I do daily or almost daily (maybe sports). However, I am always in for: cooking, baking, trying various dishes, crafting, reading and (of course) travelling.

Furthermore, I do love knitting, crocheting, growing vegetables and herbs (during the summer time mostly), listening to music, going to musicals or concerts and having a nice chat.

Music, Movies, and Books

There is not a certain type of music or movies I prefer. Usually it depends on the mood I am in, the people around me as well as on the content in general. Recently, I noticed an affection for piano / cello covers and instrumental melodies (but I do also listen a lot to normal songs on the radio).

Since I do read quite a lot, there is definitely more than one favorite book. I loved the Delirium Saga and the Shadaw Trilogy. Yet, I read thrillers, true crime stories and riddles very often. Additionally I am also into some classics like Goethe, Schiller or even Shakespeare - they can actually be highly interesting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

x) exchange year within the USA & lots of visits to my host-family and friends

x) various voluntary work/ projects: helping out in a afternoon childcare, being a "Mentor" of two girls in need, teaching refugees how to speak German / English and reading with kids to help them improve their abilities

x) travelling two months throughout Thailand and Cambodia on my own (cuddling with real tigers, riding on an elephant within an animal rescue center, making paper out of elephant poop, bungee jumping, surviving "life endangering" Tuk Tuk rides ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I certainly can cook a pretty decent meal (I love to cook dishes from all over the world, mixing spices and ideas), bake delicious treats, listen to you and just spend time with you (if you wish to).
