About Me

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a tiny town in Idaho, and have since lived in Massachusetts, London, Oxford, and now Oslo. I love to meet all kinds of new people, and show them around wherever it is I am living at the moment. I'm currently working on my second masters degree, studying vikings, but I'm not (quite) as big of a nerd as that makes me sound. I am also an editor/host at the local student radio station.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet interesting new people from around the world! It seems like a good way to meet people, as well as to travel cheaply when you are a student with a limited budget :P. Meeting people in small groups or alone is always so much more interesting than just talking casually at a hostel! I also love to help people explore the cities where I live, and I love to cook for others!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Some of everything, but the top three best artists ever are Gruff Rhys, Neil Young, Radiohead, Modest Mouse and The Clash. I've been listening to a lot of Icelandic music lately, trying to learn the language!

Movies: Back to the Future, cheesy 80s action movies, Withnail & I, Rushmore (and all Wes Anderson), Rango, Fargo

Books: I love illustration, so most of my favorite books are meant for kids...other than that some favorites are Waiting for Godot, The Trial, and The Master and Margarita, although I mostly read non-Fiction. Currently reading Thames: Sacred River, which is much more interesting than it seems like it would be!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked to the top of Nemrut Dagi at sunrise, on the first day the park was open for the season, wearing super slippery flat shoes. With the combination of enormous snow drifts and wind so strong we couldn't open the car doors, we were afraid we might die, but it was amazing once we arrived!

I also managed to see a wild kiwi without the help of a tour, which I am pretty proud of :P.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have travelled around the US by car multiple times, and have been to almost every state. If you are planning any kind of extended US trip and need any advice, I would be happy to help. I have also travelled around Europe by train pretty extensively.

If you come to Norway in the winter, I can teach you how to cross-country ski and/or ice skate. If you need a climbing parter, I can be that too!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook delicious food, especially desserts. I can also teach you how to make different Star Wars ships in origami, which is a very important skill.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Romania, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Wales, Åland Islands

Countries I’ve Lived In
