ABOUT ME

I'm about halfway through a PhD about youth activism, which takes up a fair bit of time but opens up amazing opportunities - like a recent trip to the UN Climate Change talks in South Africa. I'm passionate about my studies but don't take myself too seriously. Still trying to figure out what I want to be/do and hope it involves a lot more travelling and meeting interesting people.
I've lived in Leeds since coming to Uni here in 2005, and before that grew up on the Yorkshire coast. I feel happiest when I'm by the sea.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, by hosting, but also hope to surf in the future. There's a couch and a small spare room + airbed at the flat I share with my boyfriend Jed in Leeds. If you're in the area, get in touch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've really enjoyed couchsurf hosting so far, not only for hearing passing travellers' tales but for meeting good friends and kindred spirits. Nothing but good things to say!

Interests

Walking in Yorkshire and the Peak District, cooking, wine, late night conversation, laughing, cinema trips, exploring new places, reading, finding good ale pubs with great friends, live music (of all kinds, and Jed's band Galaxians a lot recently) and travelling.

Films - All things involving Wes Anderson and Bill Murray in equal measure; Also Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine; Synedoche; Amelie; Submarine; The Science of Sleep; I Heart Huckabees; Withnail and I; Woody Allen

Music - anything shoegaze/folk/drone/indie-pop/world/exciting/funky/danceable.... School of Seven Bells, Imogen Heap, Belle & Sebastian, Patrick Wolf, Carmen Souza, Emeralds, Oneohtrix Point Never, Devenendra Banhart, Sufjan Stevens, Martha Tilston...

Books - All the books, all the time. Jeannette Winterson, D H Lawrence, Jonathan Safran Foer and Virginia Woolf are a few favourites but I'll read almost anything. Except chicklit. Don't get me started.

White Water Rafting at Bujagali Falls. I'm a massive coward, so this was extraordinarily brave of me.
