Overview
About Me
Hello! Before you read on, I created my profile in 2012 before I left for my first solo trip in 2013, and that was to Korea. Since then, I've never been able to couch surf as often as I wish to, even though I've been blessed with opportunities to travel. After my recent trip to Sikkim, India, in June 2018, my love for travelling and seeing the world is rekindled. With the new found freedom of singlehood, I hope to return to this community more often, meeting new people again, learning new things again.
As I revisit my profile, I'm also learning about myself again and seeing how I've grown in the past 5 years. So, pardon the jumping of timelines and the weird dating of information. I hope that as you read my profile, you'll also journey with me to see how I've grown and know more about me. Cheers!
CURRENT MISSION
2013 - Live my life to the fullest, and ensures that people around me feel it and do it too!
2018 - To present the reality of the places I'll explore - the glamorous and the ugly - to the ones around me.
ABOUT ME
2013 - People say I'm an extrovert, but that largely depends on situations. I can take quite a while to open up to others, but once I'm comfortable, I'm real chatty! I'm definitely a brave adventurer! I love to try new things! I mean, YOLO!
2018 - I think I'm functionally extroverted, naturally introverted. Does that make sense? Haha!
PHILOSOPHY
2013 - I believe that life is a temporary experience; all things on earth will eventually disappear and nothing lasts forever. There will be no room for regrets, no time to look back. So give your best shot, in everything.
2018 - (FYI: These were actually shower thoughts. I think best in the toilet ^^) Sometimes when I meet friends from overseas who mentioned that they have never explored beyond their own shores, I feel sorry for them, and I positioned myself as the privileged one who could "travel and see the world". But on second thoughts, I think I should feel ashamed of myself for feeling sorry for another. Living in Singapore, I realised that every other country has got so much more to offer. It seems that Singapore is so rich in wealth, but have so little in history and nature and whatnots. We (Singaporeans) may be privileged to be financially able to travel, but it's also because we're so deprived by our country's lack. Not all things are equal...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
2013 - I can't offer a couch and host as I'm staying with my parents, but I'm definitely up to bring people around! :)
2018 - Still staying with my parents... And still up to bring people around! :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
2013 - My Korea trip in April-May 2013 was my first couchsurfing experience, and it was so awesome! I met hosts that were helpful, considerate, super fun, and totally can cook! Couchsurfing has definitely opened my eyes to this world - huge as it seems, but it's always the people that draws everyone and everything together.
2018 - I haven't couchsurfed with strangers since, even though I've gone a few more countries and crashed a few friends' places. I hope to embark on couchsurfing trips once again soon!
Interests
2013
I love sports! I'm totally into all kinds of sports EXCEPT SWIMMING. Basketball and ultimate frisbee are top on the list, but anything else goes - mountain trekking, rock-climbing, hockey, soccer, you name it, I'll try it, and perhaps, I'll be pretty good at it too! ;) I like photography too. I can go around the whole day just with my camera exploring the city and be soaked in the beauty of this world. I love meeting people from all over the places. I like to listen to people, and I love it when others have so much to share with me about themselves and their countries.
2018
I have a new found favourite: trekking. After my trip to Dzongri, Sikkim, India, I was totally mindblown by the awesomeness and beauty of the place. In fact, I'll be heading to Nepal to trek to Annapurna Base Camp in Sept 2019 with some same-age friends! I don't think I can wait till then, so I'll be heading back to India soon enough! Also, on hindsight, I realised why I'm more drawn to mountains than ocean - I can't swim, remember? HAHA! I still love sports, even though I wish I can spend more time on it. But I'll definitely be keeping myself fit so that I can continue to trek to wonderful places! Also, I'm learning to sketch and draw so that I can record the beauty before my eyes in my own way.

Music, Movies, and Books
2013
I don't really know my music, although I know that acoustics and indie songs appeal to me more than classicals, rap and death metal. Movies that tickle my tummy, cause tears to swell up, or scare the shit out of me - positive. I seriously don't read much.
2018
I dislike Western pop, to be real honest; I dislike meaningless lyrics that's all about sex and drugs and violence and things that just don't make sense. So, I'm sticking to Mandopop. I'm exploring EDM a little, probably 'cause I found some of them soothing to my ears. And of course, as a Christian and a worship leader in church, I listen to quite a bit of Christian music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I shaved my head bald for raising awareness for cancer patients.
I backpacked in Korea for 28 days on my own. Well, most of the time I was alone.
I backpacked in North India, solo. #soloyolo
Teach, Learn, Share
2013
I can teach probably most things about sports and exercise. I can teach you Mandarin better than English. I always have a good listening ear; friends like to look for me for opinions on mostly ship issues - relationships(but nope, I'm not attached and I've been single for yearssssss), friendships. I'd definitely like to learn more about music and dance, and probably the Korean language for now.
2018
I can still teach sports and exercise, and Mandarin. I was attached for a while, before the relationship ended in Dec 2017. Talk about new found freedom aye? I'd love to learn about you - your nation ; her history, your religion, your culture, your way of life. And, I'm just going to TRY to pick up a bit of Nepali in preparation of my ABC trekking trip in Nov 2019.
What I Can Share with Hosts
(Is this a new segment? Hmmm...)
I can share my stomach with you! Hahaha... Like seriously, I love to eat, so if you ever need another mouth on the table, pleaseeeee remember me. I eat anything and everything, even cheese and milk and yoghurt, although I'm lactose intolerant. In fact, I LOVE CHEESE.
I can share a voice with you, does that count? Haha.. I love to sing (it doesn't have to be a religious song), and I'd love to sing with you too!
