About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Taking a break and doing something else than work...

ABOUT ME

My friends would say: He's one of the good guys. Humorous, generous, easy-going, talkative (too much, sometimes...!), but a good listener and honest. Can be a bit shy at times and may stop talking for a day or two if in need of a break, but don't worry, he's still there.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is what happens to you when you were busy making other plans...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like travelling without plans besides plane-tickets, just going somewhere and see what happens, no sights to must-see, no fixed timetables besides catching the flight. Couchsurfing is perfect for this; you meet the locals and they show the most amazing places that you would never have dreamed of visiting with a guidebook in hand. That's travelling to me...!

When I am back, I plan to host couchsurfers on my boat.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Coming up and looking forward to it...!

Interests

Cooking - Is a relaxing past-time of mine - accompanied by music it can get me in a zen state.

Snowboarding - Preferably in Val d'Isère in the French Alps

Working on my ship - see below!

Reading - Anything from Haruki Murakami to Tom Clancy. All depends on the circumstances...!

Running - Just having to put one foot in front of the other takes my mind off things.

  • running
  • boating

  • traveling
  • music
  • drums
  • sailing
  • snowboarding

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1: Bought a wooden two-master (ship) with my father back in 2008 - best decision ever! When I work on it (and there's a lot of work to do!) I feel relaxed and at peace with myself. And sailing with friends is just pure joy.
2: I am the proud owner a Jaguar E-Type Series 1 from 1966. Thought I was saving for a buying a house or a flat - turned out I was not! Invested it in four wheels instead and this puts a smile on my when face whenever I take it for a spin. Money in the bank doesn't quite do that.
3: Handed in a notice of resignation to the place I work advising them I would no longer be working for them from September 2012. Bought a one-way ticket to Hawaii and will sublet my apartment. Adventure, here I come...!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook, play the drums, wood-works (having a wooden ship demands it) - I really enjoy physical work as my day job (used) to be in front of a computer. And yes, I am pretty good with computers as well :-)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, China, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Libya, Norway, South Africa, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In
