About Me

I know this is what everyone says, but it's true- this is hard! Why can't we find it easy to talk about ourselves? Maybe because we are all travelers and we are traveling to find out who we are so we can fill this space with words! This only means one thing then, I need to travel more- so host me!

I'll try my best to describe myself though. I am different (great start) I don't find it important to care much about clothes, hair and shoes and stuff because those aren't the things that make me happy. Experiences make me happy.

I want to experience the things that make me scared and uncomfortable, because only then do I know that I am truly experiencing a new culture. In the past year I've lived in Philadelphia, PA Duluth, MN Santa Cruz, CA and Lafayette, LA, and I'm not looking to slow down anytime soon. Next year I plan to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, I'll be camping everyday for about 5 months and when it's all done I'll be able to say I've hiked from Mexico to Canada. Afterwards I'll donate my time to Americorps, volunteering to do trail maintenance so others can enjoy the amazing trails of California.

Interests

I love being outside, exploring the world around me.
I'm happiest when I'm camping, hiking, or sleeping in a hammock.

I also enjoy:
Going to music festivals for the sounds, the people, and the food.
Staying inside and working on my calligraphy (let me know if you want a pen pal!).
My current endeavors in the kitchen include becoming a sushi master and making homemade ice cream.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I volunteered for 3 months in California with Americorps living in commune style housing in Santa Cruz and South Lake Tahoe. During projects we would camp during the week, ultimately becoming dirt people, and then on the weekend we would explore the near-by cities.

Our projects ranged from removing invasive plant species in Davenport, to rebenching parts of the Pacific Crest Trail, to creating water bars in Eldorado National Forest after a forest fire. The long days in the sun were tough- but we were living for the weekends.
