About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Puhua suomea minun kavereiden kanssa - speak Finnish with my friends
ABOUT ME
I was born in Switzerland, lived in Australia and now in Finland. I have combined the best attributes of each country to my character: Organized as an Aussi, talkative as a Finn and the relaxed attitude of a Swiss :D
I like to cook, eat, laugh, behave silly but also talk serious. I enjoy to sit at the lake when its warm and in the Sauna when its cold. I am organized and chaotic at the same time.
PHILOSOPHY
“The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it is conformity.”
Rollo May
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like to be guest, and I like to host people. However, I am not looking for receiving/giving free accommodation, but rather to meet new people. Therefore I only want to go to people that have time to host me, and also I only want to host people when I have time for them.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am a Hospitality club veteran and always enjoyed the time with my hosts and guests. HC has often "its days", so I decided to surf couches.
Interests
I like people with different cultural backgrounds. I love to cook and to eat. If someone has a passion for the food of his country, I am the first in line to try. I am vegetarian, only if I get to taste a real traditional food from an other country, Ill make an exception.
Other than that, I like to spend time outside. In winter we snowboard a lot in the Swiss mountains, but also in Finland we go out, skating or cross-country skiing on frozen lakes, and swimm in ice-holes :-) there is a sauna waiting afterwards, dont worry. In summer we go BBQing a lot, and the wheels of my bike don't stop turning too often either. Finally, we manage every summer a few times to get completely lost with the kayak on the lake labyrinth.
Apart form that, I have a passion for science and technology of all disciplines. and I love it when some of the good old common sense believes are teared to shreds by new scientific knowledge.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like Sinuhe, the Egyptian a lot. And real life books like Christiane F. or Midnight express. Currently I have this big passion for books on evolution and other exciting science topics.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In Finland, some days in winter have 1 hour of dim, foggy sunlight. Its cold, rainy and a bit depressing. But one single night in summer, when the sun hardly sets, is worth it all. On a lake, the water plane as a mirror, take a boat and let it drift into the reddish sunset-like sky for hours.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know about lasers and optics, and I like to talk about it. So if you are one of these people: "I hated physics in school, well actually it might have been interesting, but my teacher was horrible..." give me a go!
