About Me

Hey there, my name is Krisz and not Kincses - I know it's confusing but that's just the way it is ;) Unfortunately i can't host for the momnt as my roommate didnt agree to it :(

I'm an environment enthusiast originally from Hungary but I moved to the Netherlands to study about my passion, sustainability. I also lived half a year in South-America to research endangered monkeys in the wild, and now I set my foot in Amstedam for a while...

I turn my energy into having some fun. I try to spend as much time with my friends as possible whether it is playing (card) games, watching a film or doing some other activity. During holidays I either visit my family or hitchhike to new places and explore them.

I especially love hitchhiking and couchsurfing not only because you meet people you might have not ended up with and learn about their culture/experience/mindset but it also gives back my hope in humanity. There`s a lot of nice people out there and getting out of your comfort zone acts like a magnet. My ultimate goals in life are to be happy and make this world a better place in every possible way.

Generally I`m quite active, always up for some adventure, and crazy ideas are more than welcome but sometimes I find comfort in just staying inside and reading/ chilling. My hobbies would be sports (of all sorts), walking , travelling, DIY, hanging out with people and discussing all kind of topics.

If you stay with me no need for any gifts just bring nice vibes. If you insist on bringing something make it unexpected, something small and totally random.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To me couchsurfing has a similar spirit as hitchhiking, and I`ve been lucky enough to meet some amazing souls following these concepts. Let alone learning about new cultures and explore the area`s hidden gems or the favourite places of locals.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like so many kinds of musical genres all the way from funky/groovy, through oldschool rock, to indie. I realised my taste of music highly depends on the time of the year. In winter more mellow indie music, while in the summer 70s rock, and of course Queen at all times.

I don`t like silly films, although I have seen quality silly films that were really nice. Anyway a drama, comedy, or a good documentary - especially about nature - is always welcome.

A book of an interesting life story or travel story never ceases to amaze me. I`m especially interested in books that show the real face of parts of the world I don't yet know.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Studying one of the most endangered monkey species in probably the most pristine Ecuadorian jungle for 4 months.

Zip lining in Ecuador over a 200 metres deep valley and a waterfall. It was literally breathtaking in every way.

Hitchhiking across most of Europe on my own.

Teach, Learn, Share

I`m more than happy to share and discuss my view and opinion on any subject. I like good debates and we can, in the end, simply agree to disagree, however ignorance will not be appreciated. We all have different sets of values that might highly alter from each other, but this is the beauty of it. This doesn`t mean we shouldn`t respect one another.

I can definitely teach you this and that about our environment, the issues we are facing and possible solutions or give tips how could you live a more sustainable lifestyle (especially regardin energy use).

What I Can Share with Hosts

My best vibes, good conversations/debates, my insight on life and its meaning, some of my vegetarian/vegan cooking skills.
