Overview
About Me
I am a surfer, host, and CS socializer from Wisconsin. I have recently returned home to Milwaukee from several years living in NYC and the Pacific Northwest. I am a pharmaceutical scientist who works through non-profits to develop products for sexual and reproductive health. My goals are to live with gratitude, live sustainably, meet interesting people, make huge memories, cook and eat great food.
I aim to be as unscrupulously positive as a human can be. I want to do everything at least once. I want to have the resourcefulness of my grandfather. I am curious.
Selflessness. Less waste.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to host whenever possible and very occasionally surf. I also really like to hang out with CSers to meet people with good stories. My first official surfer was Joe Rollin' Porter, a pluckin bluegrass and folk singer. He became the Michelangelo of my Couch of Medici. The little surfing that I have done created experiences for me that I could never have had in any other travelling context. As a host, I like to introduce my surfers to corners of the city and local experiences that you could not have any other way.
Interests
I really like gardening, shaking my butt, cooking, harvesting food, making beer and cider, playing board games, laughing, music videos, making music, making stuff out of wood, biking, hiking, backcountry skiing, camping, knitting, unexpected gifting, marco polo the game, and hunting and fishing for food not antlers or photos.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't read fiction novels as much as I should and I'm not proud of it. I love music, pretty much all of it. Right now I'm reading The Monkey Wrench Gang by Edward Abbey. I'm not above blowing up some dams.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I built solar panels and mounted them on my fire escape in Brooklyn in an attempt to achieve energy independence in a rented apartment in the biggest city in the US...that place has a way of crushing your dreams, but it was still fun!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to play music and listen to music, and I have a synth that we can use to jam and loop and make some cool stuff. I would like to learn to stay off my soapbox. By day, I'm a pharmaceutical scientist working on HIV prevention products. By night, I'm trying to learn and implement as much as I can about how to be abundantly sustainable.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my enthusiasm for the green arts and what is going on in Milwaukee around this. The Urban Ecology Center in Milwaukee is one of the coolest, most inspiring places on the planet and chances are that I will try to take you there for a hike or a paddle on the river. I am always trying to increase my understanding of seasonal, native, ethical food, and I'll probably cook some up for you. I am always doing some kind of weird garage or kitchen science project that might be interesting to you. We will almost certainly ride bikes around town, either on the mountain bike trails around the Milwaukee River or on the badass paved trail system that we have here.
