About Me
"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened".
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I used to be very active in CS organizing and attending CS meetings where I met most of my best friends. I'm still up to meeting new people and showing them around though I don't have that much time for it anymore.
To some people Nizhny Novgorod seems to be boring and dull. But I believe that it's not the sights that make any town interesting and exciting but the people you meet there. That's why I like the idea of CS when you can find local couchsurfers that might make your visit unforgettable!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first CS experience made me realize how amazing CS is as I was hosted by quite an outstanding reggae musician who shared his apartment with me and my friend and gave us a tour of night St Pete with undeground bars and clubs.
Later, I started hosting travelers at my parents' house, so that I managed to meet a couple of amazing people. My Dad still shows a picture of him and two CSers from Holland who spent almost 2 days inside drinking vodka and learning how a distilling machine works like!
Interests
people, languages, nonprofits, volunteer work, journalism, documentaries, photography, sustainability, live music, festivals.
I organize regular language meetups for locals and foreigners. If you are in Nizhny, please come, it brings together around 200 people each time! Google 'NN Solyanka language meeting' or check out here: https://www.facebook.com/solyankann.

Music, Movies, and Books
I can recommend a lot of Russian, German and Argentinean movies :)
My top movies would be:
Fatih Akin - Head-on (Gegen die Wand)
Dziga Vertov - Living Russia, or The Man with a Camera
The book that inspired me a lot is White on Black by Ruben Gallego:

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- hitchhiking from Nizhny to Moscow alone (not the safest thing to do if you're a girl)
- hitchhiking for 1.5 days to Irkutsk (drinking vodka with a truck driver included)
- living 3 months in a hostel with 3 other people (a delightful challenge for a sociophobic person who I am)
- hiking 2 weeks in the Altai mountains - with a rain non-stop and a true Russian ever drunk guide
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have travelled and worked in several countries so I'd be happy to share it with you. Besides, I work for a nonprofit organization and do different cultural and social projects, so we can have long talks about that if you´re also in it :)
