ABOUT ME

We are a 29 and 39 year old couple (age means nothing), and we are foodies! Krystal is a secondary teacher, Jon is a chef. We are travelling the world before we go home to 'settle down', which we are giving ourselves two years to do! We enjoy a drink, good food, and a good laugh. Jon is a qualified chef and happy to talk about any local foods and is especially very happy to learn new recipes either local or international during our stay with people.
We both enjoy travelling and meeting people from all over the world. So far we've had a great experience couch surfing and met loads of great people along the way!

PHILOSOPHY

We live our life one day at a time.... We believe everything happens for a reason. This is also our CS philosophy, sometimes we don't get to stay on the couch we have applied for and then we get one that we didn't think we would and something always happens which is good for everyone!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We believe that the only way to really understand the culture of a country is to be with people who live there! We participate by surfing, meeting and hosting. We've had some of the most amazing experiences through couchsurfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We hosted a couple back home before we left, loved it and want to do the same around the world! We've now spent some time couchsurfing around Ireland, Scotland and some of Europe, and have had nothing but a great time and can't wait to see the world through the couchsurfing community! We love getting to see a city through the locals eyes rather than fall into the usual tourist traps. So much can be learnt by meeting new people!

Interests

Tasty food, good drink (love most wines and beers, although we're not particularly fussy), and we especially love enjoying these things with people. Love our music, good conversation, and chilling out every once in a while. We love to explore all the places we visit and seeing things from a locals' perspective. We are really interested in the local cuisine so we enjoy seeing different food things, visiting markets, butchers, wineries etc... We also love fleamarkets and finding second hand treasures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently reading Shantaram although it's proving to be quite awkward to carry, Jon is reading Keith Floyds autobiography, we both love seeing live local music, not into death metal or hard techno! listen to Iggy Pop, Gomez, The Happy Mondays, Frank Sinatra, The Sand Pebbles, Emeliana Torani, The Dubliners, Trad music really a bit of everythig.... too many top movies to name depends on the mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Getting engaged while skinny dipping on the Greek island of Paros after a beach BBQ while the sun was setting!

Teach, Learn, Share

Jon is happy to share his culinary skills with people who enjoy good food, while Krystal is happy to share the wine around while someone is cooking. Jon is getting back into his creative side through art and Krystal is very much interested in learning about yoga. We are both happy to learn different ideas, concepts, recipes, languages, and generally anything which can help us on our merry way
