Overview
About Me
My fiancé and I share our home with our very friendly dog. I am a teacher and Darren is an electrician. We have been living in Pinawa since Aug 2013 and have fallen in love with the place. We enjoy the easy access to the outdoors and the quiet, friendly feel of the town. We both work full time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel and I love to meet new people. I grew up in a home where my parents were always hosting people. Whether they be newcomers, travellers, friends of friends, or just people needing a place to stay - our doors were always open. Now that I am in my own home, I want to make sure I continue the "Open Door Policy" that has brought so many kind and interesting people into my life.
As a traveller, I have also found myself on the other side of the door many times - being welcomed into people's homes. What a fantastic way to return the favour!
Interests
I love the outdoors and spending my free time out on the trails hiking, snowshoeing and skiing. I am a former competitive swimmer and water fanatic. Swimming, fishing, canoeing, scuba diving or simply sitting on the dock are my favourite things to do. It was these interests that helped us make the decision to start a life in Pinawa. Our dog loves it too!
While at home I love to cook, bake, sew, and simply relax on the couch with a good cup of coffee.
I love being a teacher. I work really hard during the year and often have less free time than I'd like, but I wouldn't trade my career for anything!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Indi music and folk. My all time favourite books (so far) are The Book of Negros, 1000 Splendid Suns, and my guilty pleasure: Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants series.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I put myself through university by working as a treeplanter during the summer. Many of my favourite memories stem from my days in the Canadian North.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Small town Canadian culture. We are getting to know the trails and waterways in the area and have discovered some amazing places to visit. We have family nearby who love to act as tour guides as well. We have a comfortable home surrounded by wonderful people.
