Overview
About Me
My name is Kate. I am a Senior at SUNY New Paltz studying Geology. I work at (in my biased opinion) the best coffee shop in town with the best coffee, breakfast wraps and sandwiches. I'm a super busy collage student, so hosting is often hard during the semester, but I would love to try and help out anyone here for a short visit.
I am a selfless and hardworking helper and never afraid to get my hands and feet dirty. I have a lot of curiosity and adventure in me and find it really hard to keep still when not fulfilling my eagerness, which can sometimes get me into trouble doing things impulsively. I look for honesty and genuinely in people, and most of all for people to teach me. Teach me about themselves, lessons, the best place to climb, hike, swim or drink coffee; anything.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couch surfing because I think that more and more every year, the human social environment digresses in personally connecting humans.

To spew out a few things I enjoy.... igneous petrology, minerals and rocks, music, sustainable agriculture, doing, maps, learning, and playing outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books
Bluegrass, women of jazz and soul. Right now. I can't stop listening to the Punch Brothers new album. And shameless promotional add.... check out my band Upstate Rubdown on youtube.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to Iceland this past summer for a a little shy of a month. It was an incredible experience, where I solo hiked for a couple days as well as backpacked for a week with a group, and explored the greatness of the country by car and a tent with someone dear to me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always looking for a rock climbing friend. I live in one of the most famous rock climbing areas in America and I have only been out there a few times. I have a harness, and I need to make time to use it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share the spots I've found. Most of them are magical. I can even explain some of the local geology of the Hudson Valley
