Overview
About Me
I'm a linguistics graduate, former language teacher, translator and a bit of a language geek.
I spent last 4 years trying my best not to get sent down from the university - and woohoo, I managed! So now, when I'm completely free - I'm exploring the world :)
Sorry, I can't accept guests, though I'd be happy to walk with you and show you some places in Saint Petersburg when I'm there. If you have any questions about visiting Saint Petersburg, other cities in Russia or Crimea - feel free to contact me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to make sure people get good experience in Saint Petersburg.
I'd like to make friends with people from different places, share our thoughts and expiriences.
And sure I want to stay with locals in other countries to get to know those countries better :) There are lots of places that I would never have visited without Couchsurfing!
Interests
Learning languages, reading, travelling, finding out something new and interesting every day, exploring the world and trying to see as much as I can :)
When it comes to sport - I've been trying multiple times to make it a habit, but didn't really succeed. At some points of my life I was doing pole dance and yoga. But I totally love walking! I can go 10-20 km by foot easily, I even walked from one city to another one time.
I'm not a keen hiker, the longest hike in my life was only 3 days long, but I enjoy being in the nature. And I totally love sea! Don't even have to swim, just enjoy being at the seaside.

Music, Movies, and Books
Different kinds of music. To name just some: Nightwish, Tarja Turunen, Sopor Aeternus, Caravan of Thieves. I also enjoy opera and classical music.
Favourite movies: "My name is Khan", "The Phantom of the Opera", "Mr. Nobody", "Repo! The Genetic Opera".
Favourite books: many :) I love "Flowers for Eldgernone" by Daniel Keyes, "1984" by Orwell, "The Sound and the Fury" by Faulkner, "Gospoda Golovlyovy" by Saltykov-Shchedrin, many books by Dostoevskiy, poems by Lina Kostenko.
And I'm a 100% Mass Effect fan.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent 4 years learning Norwegian language at the university, how weird is that?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can:
- teach you some phrases in Russian, if you want (used to work as a teacher, so I'm good at that kind of things).
- gladly help you with some household chores.
- help you with cooking (I'm not really a good cook, but I know how to chop the vegetables and wash the dishes :))
- share a good and meaningful conversation; or being silent if that's better :)
- tell you about the Ukraine-Russia-Crimea story from the point of view of the local (lived there in 2014)
- answer the questions you might have about Russia.
- help you if you go to Saint Petersburg or Crimea (provide information, host if I'd be able to and show you around).
- of course, leave you a good reference in time :)
