About Me
CURRENT MISSION
knowing things and meeting people
ABOUT ME
I am a student of Classics (aka an enormous hellenophile), who constantly goes on tangents to Asia . Therefore love all things language, culture and history. And food. Food is a big one. So it all makes travel inevitable. Even though I don't do nearly enough of it.
I'm the person to have long, serious (and not so serious) conversations with about art, society and politics. And yet I am permanently excited about everything new I come into contact with.
Oh, and I've been dying my hair a different color every month now.
PHILOSOPHY
To listen and learn. The world is an amazing place, gorgeous in its complexity. And I live to know it, and eventually make it better through my knowledge.
No pain - no game. Best things are the hardest.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Tarantino, Kurosawa, Asian historical drama, all sorts of sci-fi, Kubrick, Tarkovsky.
Music: punk, a bunch of Russian people with guitars, Patti Smith, Death in June, folk of all sorts, Tuvan throat singing (ask me about it!).
Books: I mostly read non-fiction and sci-fi these days, all while coaxing Greeks and Romans into making sense in their original languages. But Umberto Eco, Tolstoy, Dante, Homer, Shakespeare and Solzhenitsyn will always be good. I blame Joyce for a lot of my life choices.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- stood on the top of Kamchatka's volcano chain.
- went through the entirety of Louvre (and took naps there).
- seen a play in Epidaurus.
(I just can't do one, guys.)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can give you a clue of how Russia works, explain why Classics matter, teach the little Irish step dancing I still remember, or give you a crash course on a couple of theories and authors. And drag you into loving Star Wars.
