About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To "change the world one couch at a time"

ABOUT ME

I think the point of this site is to share reality time with real people not to build cyber-pseudo-relationships. So, I'll only say a little here, the rest we'll discuss in person.

I grew up in a gypsy-esque setting with my musical family concert act.

I haven't changed much except I fly solo now and the music has been replaced with a number of other entertainment mediums.

PHILOSOPHY

The Golden Rule

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I owe a billion and one wonderful world experiences to the hospitality of the couch lending community. I have always done my best to give back where I could by lending a hand, lending a sandwich, or lending a couch to a fellow rambler.

This site perpetuates an already practiced motto of mine. Three cheers to "CS the website."

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was in Tokyo Japan when the Earthquake of March 11 devastated the nation. I was at first relocated south to Nagoya but then immediately evacuated to the US. I found myself in California with a bunch of baggage and no place to be. I called some old friends and one caught up to me at 4am to lend me her little overcrowded room until my refugee status could be revised.

Of course there are stories of perfect strangers and more random acts of kindness but I thought this story deserved honorable mention due to the circumstances. It feels good knowing that in the hardest of times, I've got friends around the world with open arms and open couches.

Interests

Equestrian pastimes - I could live on horseback.

Music - listening and playing.

Juggling- I'm good enough to have made a living with it for 10 years now.

Languages - I'm a horrible language student but I'd like to change that.

The great outdoors - I'm a sucker for a beach picnic or a weekend in a tree house.

Sports - I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as I ever was. I can still kick around a ball.

Some site seeing sometimes but I would rather take the unbeaten path... the mystery box appeals more to me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Yes, Yes, Yes

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My friend from Norway called me while I was in Taiwan and asked me to meet him and help him recover from an emotional crisis. We had our rendezvous in Florida, him in from Scandinavia and I from Asia. We rented a car and drove from Orlando, FL to Seattle, WA in a matter of a couple weeks zig zagging and hitting key sights and old friends along the way. An amazing road trip to be remembered.
