Sobre mí

I'm currently using my Hungarian number for WhatsApp/Viber/Telegram/Viber/etc, which is:
+36 30 846 0138
At the moment, I'm currently in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

I aim to host the Olympics, run the United Nations, play international "Capture the Flag," and have a Roy G. Biv week ... every week ... at the SAME TIME!

Linguistics, teaching, travel and Heavy fucking Metal are my life. This is what I live and die for.

I have Asperger's Syndrome {I'm what's classified as "High-Functioning Autistic" (or, HFA)} and significantly more sensitive hearing than normal people. Interpret that however you wish.

I sold my television in 2001, and at the time that I sold it, I hadn't turned it on in about 5 or 6 years or so. However, I have not yet sold my soul for Rock 'n' Roll. Not yet...

I totally definitely want to talk to you if you're from:
Israel
Finland
Hungary
Romania
Serbia
Mexico
Poland
Ukraine
Russia
Mongolia
Kazakhstan
Greece
China
Korea
Japan
Viet Nam
Colombia
Peru
Brazil
Ethiopia
Ghana
Kenya
Estonia
Lithuania
Latvia
Holland / The Netherlands
If you're from one of these countries, definitely write to me. Chances are pretty good that we'll get along quite well.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I've become horribly disillusioned with the way that the computer tech programmers and the administrative staff have destroyed this website. They've squeezed a nice, big fat corn-filled shit right on top of something beautiful. For those of you who are new to the site and didn't get to see the previous functionality-structure, I pity you. CS used to be great. Couchsurfing used to be an International Travel Community. It used to be about humans connecting with each other. Now, it really, truly is a business, in every possible sense of the term.

The only reason why I'm still on here is so that I can show people hospitality (partially because I enjoy being hospitable to people, and partially because, being Persian, it's basically a fundamental part of my culture). I hope everybody relocates to another certain website, where they can Be, as it were, Welcome, in a sense, dot.org (if you know what I mean...)

My request to you is that if you are multiple people who want to crash at my place, that each person in your group creates their own particular CS profile so that I can leave references for each one of you individually.

Intereses

Computer Science, Linguistics, music studies, comparative religion, philosophy, poetry, literature, Jungian psychology, Evolutionary Psychology, biology, physiology, astrophysics, math, all sorts of other stuff

I think that, biologically, psychologically, sociologically, humans are the most interesting animal on this planet.

Also, drums. Lots and lots of drums. My main instrument is tabla, and I play lots of other (mostly percussion) instruments. Most of the music I play revolves around numerical patterns, beat cycles, (mostly) indian/persian music, metal, and jazz, among other various styles. By the way, if you're a soulful, skilled musician, please hit me up!

Música, películas y libros

I've only very recently in my life developed any care or concern whatsoever for movies, thanks in major part (almost exclusively, really) to Steve Willner. Check him out; he's essentially the sole individual influence upon me appreciating movies today. Today, they include:
V for Vendetta, Sound of Noise (I'm convinced that this movie was made specifically for me), Wanted, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Powder, Mozart and the Whale, Stay, Six String Samurai (I'm fairly convinced that this move was also made specifically for me), Zero Effect, Dogma, The Matrix, Mongol, Latcho Drom, Baraka, Gattaca, K-Pax, Pink Floyd's "The Wall", Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Johnny Depp is an absolute master), Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer, Ratatouille, Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter (the greatest movie ever made!), Army of Darkness, the Cowboy Bebop movie, Boondock Saints, The Truman Show, Malcolm X, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Equilibrium, all the Monty Python movies, Metal - A Headbanger's Journey, Global Metal, Genghis Blues, The Yes Men, Addicted to Plastic, Exit Through the Gift Shop, quite a few others

MUSIC:
Mechina, Opeth, Tool, Faith No More, Mechina, and ...and Oceans are my favorite bands. I actually went to Sweden to see Opeth live in concert for their 20th Anniversary Tour, which was how this whole World Tour I'm doing started, and Opeth (particularly Mikael Åkerfeldt) is the reason why I studied Swedish. Tool are easily one of the best and most perfect bands in the history of the universe, and Danny Carey is my favorite drummer in the world), Jimi Hendrix (the reason why I am a musician today), Faith No More (their "The Real Thing" album was my introduction to western music, believe it or not), Sigur Rós (seen these guys live 4 times), Pink Floyd, Flogging Molly, Arcturus, ...and Oceans, Tenhi, Tinariwen, Sepultura, Soulfly (Max Cavalera is one of my favorite musicians ever), Alice in Chains, Eluveitie, Ensiferum, Turmion Kätilöt, green carnation, Porcupine Tree, Ministry, Meshuggah, Dark Tranquillity, Apocalyptica, Vintersorg, Huun Huur Tu, Yat-Kha, Tyva Kyzy, Ismo Alanko, Shiina Ringo, Sigh, Devin Townsend, The Offspring, Tantric, Ustad Zakir Hussain (my percussion hero!), Mechanical Poet, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Do Make Say Think, Radiohead, Loreena McKennitt, The Tea Party, Korpiklaani, Garmarna, Hedningarna, Värttinä, Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Anathema, Yoko Kanno & the Seatbelts, Massive Attack, Arrested Development, et al. et al.

BOOKS:
Sun Tzu - "The Art of War", Joseph Campbell - "The Hero with a Thousand Faces", James Scott Bell - "Plot & Structure", Max Tegmark - "Our Mathematical Universe", Mark C. Baker - "The Atoms of Language", Sam Harris - "The End of Faith", Jack Weatherford - "Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World" and "The Secret History of the Mongol Queens: How the Daughters of Genghis Khan Rescued His Empire", the Buddha - "Dhammapaða", The Dalai Lama - "The Four Noble Truths", Miyamoto Musashi - "The Book of Five Rings", The Bible (whether you're religious or not, there's a lot of wisdom in that book), George Orwell - "1984", George Orwell - "Animal Farm", Ray Bradbury - "Fahrenheit 451", "The Upanishads", "The Bhagavadgita", "The Epic of Gilgamesh", H.P. Lovecraft - "collected stories", Amy Dockser Marcus - "The View from Nebo", Irshad Manji - "The Trouble with Islam Today", James Hollis - "Under Saturn's Shadow: The Wounding and Healing of Men (Studies in Jungian Psychology By Jungian Analysts)", "What the Bleep do we know?", Ferdowsi - "Shahnameh" (if ever, IF EVER, there was a book with a history and a purpose...), Sharon Lawrence - "Jimi Hendrix" (Sharon is a journalist who actually knew and was close personal friends with Jimi; everyone should read this book), Steven Mithen - "The Singing Neanderthal: The Origins of Music, Language, Mind, and Body", Stephen Hawking - "A Brief History of Time", Dr. Louann Brizendine - "The Female Brain", Richard Zachs - "An Underground Education", Payam Nabarz - "The Mysteries of Mithras", Upton Sinclair - "The Jungle", Chuck Thompson - "Smile when you're lying", the dictionary, anything non-fiction relating to history, mathematics, comparative religion, psychology, neurokinetics, neurobiology, physiology, physics, astrophysics, astronomy, quantum mechanics, cooking, etc. I read a lot.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I taught myself Web Development beginning at age 31 after having grown up with a typewriter and no prior knowledge of Computer Science whatsoever.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I can teach:
Percussion, Music Theory and Composition, unorthodox approaches to music and to language-acquisition, composite Sports/Aiki-Judo-derivative Massage, physiology, interesting ways of considering and interacting with the world

I want to learn:
Anything you can teach me, particularly if you can teach me to speak Finnish, Hungarian, Estonian, Kazakh, or Mongolian, and if you speak Swedish, or if you are actually willing to speak to me in Spanish. Would really like to keep my language skills up.

Also, make sure to talk to me if you have a babel fish. Seriously, I could really use a babel fish. Really. Truly. Seriously.
