ABOUT ME

My name is Kristina and I have been teaching English in Russia for about four years now. I love teaching English, I think it’s a great ooptrinitu to help people with their language skills in order to communicate, study abroad or other goals 🇬🇧

I was born and grew up in Siberia, Russia. My hometown is Novosibirsk, which is the most wonderful city I've ever been. Btw I've traveled to 14 countries 🌍 I hope you will have a chance to visit this lovely place one day! I hopelessly love this place and I could be your guide for a day 💭

I started learning english language when I was in primary school along with attending piano classes. Music has never been my passion so far as studying. What I really wanted was to be able to understand the meaning of my favourite english songs like ABBA and speak to people without hesitation from all over the world. So I immediately fell in love with studying english language.

By the time I finished The Siberian State University of Russian Railways in Novosibirsk, i had been sure I do want to spend my life studying english and travel. Travel and study. The more I traveled the more I understood that English isn't the only language that's worTh to be studied. Now I'm studying German as the third language. At the age of 21 I went to London language college. After a period of time living in London, I came back to my hometown and started to work as an english teacher. I am just so mush found of it. I am so fascinated by the complexity, history and current idiomatic usage of English, and how English has incorporated words and grammar from so many different languages. It is a real pleasure for me to see the development of my students’ language skills.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Experienced :) I've met some great people from England, Germany, Czech, Japain, China. I've been more that 20 countries using CS 4 times. I didn't have any troubles at all. All my hosts were just amazing and welcomed people. I'm happy that once I tried CS so it seems impossible for me to give it up now:)

Interests

I am fascinated by most everything. I love playing the piano, reading or just exploring new things. My passion is studying. I do love study history, philosophy. Exploring would have to be my favourite thing to do. Exploring new cities,cultures,customs. I think life has so much to offer and I would like to be open to new things! Languages is the main key to open these doors.

My interests depend on my mood. Sometimes I likethe big companies with my friends but sometimes I just want to stay alone listening ABBA songs and dreaming...

Also, I love hockey. The energy that you are able to get in the stadium - it's awesome!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite author to date is Margaret Mitchell, and her American Civil War-era novel "Gone with the Wind". although self admitedly I tend to read articles, stories, information online as opposed to books.

I enjoy classical, Soul, R&B, Jazz, blues, Country Music, EuroPop, Pop-rock, Contemporary R&B music the most but every genre is ok in moderation except for metal... it's difficult for me to appreciate this.

And about music... don't ask me for names, just make me hear a song and I will tell you if I like)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I often tell the same story whem someone asks me about the caraziest moment in my life. when I was 20 years old and I was a student I wanted to go to London. My desire was so strong that I sold my beautiful winter coat and bought tickets from Novosibirsk to London. I have not regretted even once, it changed my life!
