ABOUT ME

Katie & Alex:

We just got married! We sold what we had, eloped to Scotland, backpacked around Europe for two months, and now we're back. Looking to put a few roots down and recoup from our latest adventure.

We love conversation, laughter, and good times-especially around a table after a good meal or a bottle of wine. We claim to be amazing movie critics and excellent chefs in the kitchen.

Both of us are up for anything. We've done many crazy random trips together and adventure is what we crave. Adventure meaning: 1st time kayaking on Lake Tahoe, skydiving over Salt Lake, or sitting around a campfire eating smores.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In 2010 and 2011, I (Katie) successfully completed two roadtrips during which I camped and couchsurfed across the southwest.
I ended up meeting my best friend, my husband, and loads of other amazing people. This is a great site!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Nothing but good experiences. The whole gamut. I shared time with people who were instant kindred spirits, good conversationalists, family, teachers, heros.

Interests

Good food, conversation, movie-quoters, tasty wine, reading, beer, photography, the ocean, planning trips-and taking them, laughing, exploring, climbing things, jumping in leaves, pumpkin carving, coffee shops (they smell delicious), camping, meeting new people and hearing about their travel experiences--we love listening to stories!

Music, Movies, and Books

Katie:
I like anything that can get me to sing along with it. Though of course I'd enjoy it if someone were singing it to me : )

Some favorite movies:
I love natural disaster films; the science positively thrills me-even if it is silly or exaggerated. I grew up on Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and the Terminators...and Anne of Green Gables.

I love books, mostly fiction.
The book I love to HATE = Tess of the D'Urbervilles
Never has a book evoked such emotion in me (literally threw it across the room) and it is therefore a favorite.

Alex:
Movies: Die Hard, Princess Mononoke, Tremors. I grew up on the Aliens series.

Favorite books are typically fantasy. I'm working my way through Game of Thrones currently. Can't seem to get through book 5. I enjoyed Snowcrash and the Dark Tower series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Katie:
Sat around a campfire on a beach at night with 15 other people-Australian, American-didn't matter. What mattered was the sand beneath my feet, the heat on my cheeks, and the guitar playing softly to an ocean-wave beat.

Alex:
Doing as many things as possible in Costa Rica with the time that we had.

Teach, Learn, Share

Alex & I have a wonderful menu box we'd love to share including: chicken enchiladas, coffee cake, homemade cinnamon rolls and pie.

We'd love to share in a game night we know a plethora of card and board games.
