One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
friend of mine was one of the top base jumpers in the world. we had a party on the rooftop of a twenty-four story building in portland, and he came with a parachute, said hello, had a drink, and then jumped off the building...to safety in the gas station parking lot below. he gathered his chute, walked matter-of-factly to his car (with the station attendants looking on in disbelief), and drove off. we all, of course, dug it. thanks, dwain (rip)
other than admiring dwain for doing what he loved, i've seen the shuttle lift off, caught the sunrise on haleakala, camped with an unbeknownst-to-us tsunami warning off the coast of maui, coached soccer to youth, created a website to combat pollution in my 'hood (and help shut down the target), joined neil finn and crowded house on stage, barrel raced a one-eyed horse, and taught my mom to use the internet (THIS is actually amazing).
