Music, Movies, and Books

It seems to me that life is all about learning and evolving, making out way towards an increasingly peaceful heart. With lots of laughs and adventures along the way!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On one trip to a very special place, I learned two huge life lessons in the matter of moments. The first was not long into my time in Nicaragua. I asked something like: how could you not be so angry with me as an American for what the country I come from has done to your people? The response I got: "you are not your government, we understand that. You wouldn't be here doing this work, wanting to understand us, if you were."
And when I was verging on the end of an amazingly eye opening experience with laborers and organic coffee farming communities in Nicaragua many years ago, I asked "how can I go back to the US where I have so much and feel peaceful about how little you have here and how much of a struggle it is to simply survive here?'" With the warmest heart and kindest eyes, the man I was talking to said "go home, educate people, that's your gift to us. This is not your reality, this is not your home. And that is ok. Feel no guilt for the life you have....just educate the people you encounter." And I Took his words to heart.
