About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live an adventure

ABOUT ME

I grew up with my two brothers on a small island 100km east of Auckland (New Zealand). Our home is fully self sufficient, with its electricity powered by both the sun and wind. Here's a typical day on the Island where I live https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5_AJi8A3zU I've always had a passion for adventure and from a young age my brothers and me would always be outside going on missions, these sometimes lasted for weeks with little to no food. I recently graduated university with a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and am really looking forward to getting out there and indulging in some new culture and experiences. People normally refer to me as being very disciplined, hard working and yet light, funny and easy going. I approach all hardships with a smile and as an opportunity to learn something new. Lastly I'm not fussy, I can eat just about anything, never complain about sleeping on hard wood floors or taking ice cold showers. Check out my blog for when I Bicycled the whole 5,500 km coast line of NZ http://www.biketouringnz.blogspot.co.nz

PHILOSOPHY

Don't get caught up on small details. Don't get stressed or upset if you've done everything you could and if you haven't, accept the situation you're in. Live life as an adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If anyone ever swings by Great Barrier Island, Auckland New Zealand. I'll be more then welcome to help set up some accommodation, take them out for a surf, dive or fish and show them the beauty that my home has to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Coming from a small Island, I basically grew up couch surfing and have been doing it my whole life.

Interests

I enjoy playing music, mainly guitar.. But I also can play just about anything. My main sports are surfing, skating, snow boarding and muay thai, although I'll give anything a shot. The things that really get me going though are things that push my limits, like going bush for weeks without food or attempting to swim to off shore islands or even this attempt now to bike New Zealand. My dad used to say "if you don't bleed or hurt yourself everyday, your not pushing your limits and therefore your not living life, you're only watching it. However strangely enough I also enjoy sitting back and reading something new and learning more about what makes this world tick.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Surfing a local break when it was 4-6 surfing feet with an off shore wind (that's between two to three times my size on the wave face). Not only was it huge but out the back where it was safe from the rouge waves, there was a school of sharks that were having a go at the sea birds floating in the water. So it was a trade off between getting smashed by the set waves or being surrounded by a bunch of curious sharks (they were only bronze whalers, but it was still pretty exciting).

Walking two weeks through the pureora forest near taumatanui, with only two bags of nuts, some glucouse powder, and a thin sleeping bag that probably dated back to the 1970's. My mate decided to bring along a nasty cold aswell and we ended up extremely sick walking 10 hour a days in the rain with no food and only summer cloths. I remember feeling so exhuasted with the time being around 3-4pm and trying to make a fire out of damp wood so that we wouldn't freeze when the temperture drop below 0 degress celsius at night. The trip was a real experience and even though it took me about a month to throw off the flu, I had learnt so much about survival and how to mentally push myself.
