Hey, my name as you can see is Kwan Hoong, but normally people just call me by the name Hoong or Hong (It doesn't really matter). I'm currently 22 years old and still a student studying Electrical Engineering in University of Malaya.

Don't really know how to describe myself, instead i'll let quotes explain more about me.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

Reason was probably because of my friends. They've been couchsurfing for quite awhile now and they always have something nice to share about their couchsurfing experience. And I was inspired, perhaps I'll be able to share mine someday. I always ready to make new friends, new memories. Especially I wanted to have friends all over the world, wouldn't that be great?!

// To couchsurfers, I'm sorry but there's limitations for me to host you all, as I'll be continue staying hostel during my university life for another 2 years. But as soon as there's any semester break, I'll come back Penang and make it available for you all :)

Music: Generally I just love music, so I don't really have a genre of music selection. I can be an EDM person also can be like sentimental music person :) // I learnt piano before but stopped for few years and haven't gotten back into that yet, but currently I am trying out with guitar :)

Movies: I prefer comedy movies. "Three Idiots" was one of my favorite. Other movies that I like are, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", "The Jumper", "In Time" and "Love Rosie". // Sorry but I am not too into cartoons and anime :)

Books: I only read like 2 novels a year, and after reading it, I donated them. // So nope, nothing favorite.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

``Made a bucket list on 2012. Ever since then I stepped out of my comfort zone, started taking risks and learnt as much as possible.

2013,
I completed 80+ km expedition with my scout brothers throughout the whole Penang Island, with no cash but just food in our backpack. It took us about 5 days.

16 November 2014,
I completed my first full marathon in my life which is the Penang Bridge International Marathon (42km). Then I'd decided it's time to go uphill.

4 April 2016,
One of my toughest training was the 2D1N hike to Gunung Rajah (1685m).

22 July 2016
I finally made it to the highest peak in South East Asia, the Mt. Kinabalu (4095.2m). And at the same time, I'd made it to all of the 13 states in Malaysia. And it's time for me to move forward, go further.

And that's when I planned a 4D3N budget trip to Singapore on my own for my family on behalf of my belated mom's birthday.

2 July 2017,
I planned another 5D4N trip to Beijing, just for the sake of completing my bucket list, The Great Wall of China. It was a quest on fulfilling my mom's wish.

22 July 2017,
I finally got the courage and opportunity to solo backpack. I visited the Candi Borobudur, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, and hiked my first ever active volcano, Mt. Bromo.

Trip to Siam Reap, Cambodia - Angkor Archaeological Park (Angkor Wat)

24 January 2018,
Trip to Bangkok, Thailand - with my dance crew. Also spent 2 days in Hua Hin.

27 March 2018,
Went on a solo trip to Philippines, to Cebu, to swim with whale sharks and to El Nido for that spectacular clear seas and lagoons.

4 November 2018,
Perth solo, rent a car and had a road trip exploring Western Australia which includes Pinnacles, Lancelin, Busselton and Margaret River

January 2019,
Explore the islands in Maldives, budget style which interacts with locals in island of Male and Maafushi. Also, catch the wave at Thulusdhoo to learn surfing.

June 2019,
Work in the US under a student programme as a Ride Operator in Cedar Point Amusement Park, Sandusky, Ohio for 3 months.

Sept 2019,
Travel across US after working, plan to go to these places within 21 days before US VISA expired: Chicago, New York, Anchorage (Alaska), Las Vegas + Grand Canyon + Antelope, Los Angeles and San Francisco
