ABOUT ME

Hmm....Well, my names Joe Carroll. I'm from Maine. I'm 22 years old. I graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High in 2006. Took a year off to clear my head, and snowboard. Decided to join the Maine Army National Guard the summer of 2007. Went to basic training that summer, then went to college at the University of Maine that fall. I became a brother at the fraternity Alpha Gamma Rho. The next summer I went to AIT for military training. Then back to UMaine for a year. The summer of 09 I got word of deployment in 2010. So I took the fall of from school and snowboarded. March '10 we went to Texas for training, and in May I deployed to Afghanistan where I currently am till this March.

I'm an easy going guy. Snowboarding is my life. I travel a lot each year to snowboard. I'm also very athletic. Love sports. Skateboarding, soccer, baseball, wakeboarding. Anything to do with a board really? lol. I like to have a good time. I drink socially. I dont smoke. And Im just an overall flexible person.

PHILOSOPHY

Things happen for a reason, and if you dont like whats happening or why, you have the ability to change that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently I'm just trying to get involved. Hoping to road trip this coming summer and maybe hitting a few couches if possible. Once at college, I'll have an open couch if someone really wants to go through northern Maine.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mainly have only surfed couches of people I know. Travel here to a friends place and crash for the night before heading out in the am to a ski resort or dragging them to a party.

Most amazing thing I've done?

Probly seeing the looks on the locals faces here in Afghanistan when we go out and drop off boxes of food and water and pass out toys and blankets to everyone.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach snowboarding. Have taugh ropes course challenges, rock climbing, swimming, and other outdoor sports to children before. Im also a lifeguard, and a certified combat lifesaver with the military.
