About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet people from all over the world, and find the time and the money to travel myself

ABOUT ME

No couch available until further notice, because I'm moving in a few weeks.

What is there to say about me.... I think I`m just an average german woman. I`m 40+ (just because I'm too lazy to edit my profile every year *g*) years old, single, and most of the time very happy with it.
I worked in hotels for nearly 20 years before I changed profession and work now for a hard-and software company. That`s a change, huh? *smile* I`m a little introvert and don`t make friends too easily, but I value my few friends very much.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is for living, but living is not free, you have to work hard for it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offer my couch, and I would like to host a gathering of other members in my town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since I discovered CS only a few days prior to this entry I don`t have any CS experiences to share, but I will try to remedy this situation soon.

Interests

- art, I would like to learn how to draw properly
- the world
- languages, I love languages, but unfortunately I don`t find the time to learn.
- literature
- people
- photography, I`m a crappy photographer but I like to admire other people`s pictures
- films, there are not many genres I don`t like. as long as the story is interesting and the movie is well made, I will watch it.
- books, mostly sci/fi, fantasy, historical novels, and many others.
- conventions; I`m working for german conventions now for more then 15 years, and it is still as much fun as it had been in the beginning. Meeting actors, behind the scenes worker and other filmmakers is only part of the fun. Meeting friends I don`t meet over the year during conventions is the best thing ever.
-Anime/Manga; I love those big eyes figures and the fantasy that shows in those stories is amazing (as long as it is no crappy romance*wink*)
- ancient egypt

There is so much more, but I honestly don`t know what to write right now.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
-Lord of the Rings, my all time favourite, I read the book for the first time more than 20 years ago, and I love the movies. Even more now, since I`ve met and talked to some of the actors, stuntpeople, make-up artist,Weta workers and call a few of them my friends.

-Star Trek, my first love.
-Die hard
-Matrix
-Night Watch: Nochnoi Dozor, an amazing piece of film making, very unique
- The Frighteners
- Gladiator
- 300
- Excalibur, imho the best King Arthur movie ever
- Pirates of the Carribean
- Star Wars 4-6, I still don`t like part 1-3
- Black Hawk down, b/c it shows the madness of war
- Evolution
- Cleopatra, Ben Hur and all those monumental movies from the 50s and 60s
- Charlie and the chocolate factory
- most of Alfred Hitchcock`movies
- Gene Kelly movies, especially Brigadoon and Singing in the Rain
- Doris Day/Rock Hudson movies
... and many more

Music:

-Queen, love of my life
-symphonies composed by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven any others.
- some songs of Garth Brooks
- Rock music in general
- music of the 70s and 80s
- some movie scores like "Dune" by Toto
- Black Eyed Peas
- Robbie williams singing Frank Sinatra songs
any many others

Books:
now it is getting difficult, I read so many books with many different topics, from travel reports to science , from fantasy to RL novels, from Sci/Fi to horror.

Some of my favourite authors are J.R.R. Tolkien (of course), Dean Koontz, Naomi Novik, Diana Gabaldon (b/c she is the only one who can write a romance that is not too cheesy and boring and b/c she is still the only romance writer I`m reading), Dan Brown (I still hope that the 2nd movie will be better than the first one and hopefully without Tom Hanks); Mark Chadburn (an amazing britsh author), Raymond Feist ( thank you for the wonderful world of Midkemia and Kelewan); Ken Follet; Christian Jaq; Stephen Hakwins, b/c he can make dry sciene very enjoyable; Al Gore for telling us the truth;
I think I should stop now, before I write a novel myself

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hm, one of the most amazing things I`ve seen in my life was the sunrise at Lake Te Anau in New Zealand. I`ve never seen so many brilliant colours in the sky.
One other thing was meeting Leonard Nimoy during a convention.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to learn other languages and in turn would like to teach people some german, or even some bavarian bits.

Countries I’ve Visited

Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
