About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"The best journeys in life are those that answer questions you never thought to ask." - Rick Ridgeway

ABOUT ME

I love to travel and meet new people. I am currently living and working in Guangzhou, China. I travel every chance I get and have also really enjoyed exploring around Guangzhou.

I am really interested in learning about other countries, their language, food, traditions, religion, culture... Hence my traveler lifestyle. I will go somewhere, live there for a year or two, see everything there is to see and then start plotting my next adventure. I feel as if you really need to live somewhere for a little while to get a feel for it so I tend to travel and stay somewhere for a little while.

I think maybe it's not about the happy ending in life, maybe it's about the story.

Comme une plume au vent..

PHILOSOPHY

There isn't a person anywhere who isn't capable of doing more than he thinks he can.
Ne vis pas pour que ta présence se remarque, mais pour que ton absence se ressente.
失败为成功之母
You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.
Work like you don't need money, love like you have never been hurt, and dance like no one's watching.
A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy hosting people at my house in Switzerland when I get the chance to return there. But for the most part I don't stay in one place too long. I am currently living with a friend in China so I am unable to host. I love using CS to travel the world and meet amazing people doing amazing things. I can honestly say I've made some life long friends on this site, and for that I am so grateful.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used CS to travel all over Spain for a few months in 2012 and it worked great. A huge thanks to everyone! People were so welcoming everywhere I went. I am amazed at how selfless and kind people can be. It gives me hope for the world :) People are often shocked that I travel so often alone. But I honestly believe that there are more good people in the world than bad. There are so many places in the world that I still want to explore. I enjoy going off the beaten path and seeing the things that aren't super touristy... I love the outdoors as well as old cities. I am always interested in hearing about other people's travel experiences.

Interests

I am up for any adventure. I played tennis in high school and some basketball. I enjoy being outside and in the sun... hiking, kayaking, biking, beaches, and exploring. I have a huge passion for learning new languages... there are still so many that I want to learn. When I travel, I love to go out and experience the culture and just sight-see but I do enjoy a good party as well. I enjoying going out for drinks and dancing with friends. I also enjoy going to school and learning about the world. There is so much more I want to know and learn. I guess I am fairly young but I have experienced a lot for someone my age.

I love love love animals. I act like an excited four year old every time I see a puppy or cow or anything furry really. I have been a vegetarian since I was 8 years old. I just love the Earth and animals too much. I am big into eating healthy but also trying all sorts of different foods. Anyone who knows me well knows that food is one of my greatest passions.

I spent a year abroad in 2009 studying in France. I guess this experience is really what gave me the travel bug. I haven't been able to stay put since. I finished my bachelors degree in 2016 and hope to do foreign service work in the long run. I spent a life-changing year abroad in China in 2013 and now have returned to teach English for a couple years. I love exploring Asia.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read. I am into all sorts of stuff but love a good travel book, science fiction or historical fiction are all interesting to me. I am always looking for new music. I listen to the mainstream stuff but also like discovering new things. Hip-hop, country, rock, I listen to it all. Miley Cyrus is my all time idol... laugh if you want but don't dare to criticize her in front of me ;) She is such an inspiration to me because of her carefree personality. I admire that she does what makes her happy without caring what other people think about her. She has also used her fame to do some incredible things.

And I love watching movies... all those cheesy romances based on Jodi Picoult or Nicholas Sparks books... love them! I'm such a hopeless romantic haha... and then I enjoy the scary stuff too... whatever comes my way :) I really enjoy foreign films. Living in China, I was introduced to a much larger variety of music and movies. I like to read in foreign languages... I love how with each new language I learn I find new ways to express myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a kid I lived in Spain for a while with my family. My father was doing a short-term project there. We went to Gibraltar in Spain... it was such an interesting place. You ride a gondala up this mountain to a place inhabited only by monkeys. I loved it! And they are awesome; they come right up to you, jump on your shoulders and into your arms. A very cool experience.

Several years later I returned to Spain to backpack through Andalucia alone for several months... also very amazing and unforgettable. Experiences like that make me realize how much I am capable of. I really enjoy traveling on a budget and seeing how far I can stretch my money. I think that is when you have the best experiences. I strongly believe that money cannot buy you a good time. It is all the small moments that matter the most.

I spent a year in France alone and met some of the most incredible people. Learned so much about myself.

Most recently I spent a year in China for some more adventures. Found some incredible friendships there and I am just so happy to return to Asia and continue exploring. My time in Southeast Asia was incredible. I have a hard time believing how much I have been fortunate enough to see and do in my short time here on Earth. I can only hoped that I continue to be blessed and see the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm good with languages and love learning new ones. I could probably help you if you want to learn, although I will admit I'm not always the most patient person. I can cook pretty good, I like making up random recipes and just experimenting in the kitchen. I am a vegetarian and a total treehugger.. don't judge. I am super conscious about the environment and always trying to make small adjustments in my lifestyle. I just have a love for traveling and learning about people different from myself.
