About Me

Hey! I'm Kale

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am currently working on a project cataloging all the major sauces/condiments of the world. I'm planning on traveling a bit to compile research, but I also plan on contacting food folks across the globe remotely for feedback, If you're interested in seeing what I'm working on google "Kamili Foods Master List of Global Sauces."

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big fan of Jazz, everything from Charles Mingus to Django Reinhardt, I really like the blues as well, mostly Delta and Hill Country styles, most types of folk, but also punk(Iggy Pop and MC5) as well as funk(Parliament Funkadelic) and rap(Kendrick Lamar, Tribe Called Quest). As a musician I try and study as many different genres and styles as possible.

Movie wise I love Jim Jarmusch films, as well as Tarintino films. O Brother Where Art Thou, Clerks, and the History of Future Folk are probably three of my favorite movies

I used to read a lot more when I was in school, these days most of my reading is studying music/musicians. Please Kill Me is a really great book about the early punk scenes of america and Respect Yourself is an awesome book about Stax record and the early days of soul music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm, I got a recurring role on a network TV show a couple years ago? I rode an elephant bareback in Thailand, I've sipped tea high in the mountains of Taiwan on a tea plantation, I climbed a volcano in New Zealand. Hard to pick just one thing

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach guitar, ukulele, banjo, and both electric and upright bass. I also can teach you cooking and photography

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can play music for my hosts, or teach them different techniques if they play. I'm also quite a good cook and handy around the house.

Countries I’ve Visited

Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
