About Me

I was born in the USA, in a state called Wisconsin, known for its long, cold winters and multitude of cows. Since graduating college in 2015, however, I’ve spent most of my time living in Asia, making a living first by teaching English and more recently by attempting a variety of digital nomad work.

I’ve spent 10 months in China, 15 months in Vietnam, and, most recently, 6 months in Indonesia. I love the lifestyle and cultural experience of living abroad in places so different from my home, along with the amazing travel opportunities the region offers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’d like to meet and have more unique, local experiences while traveling. I love getting to know people from other cultures and experiencing their view on the world. Also, I want to save money! 😂

Interests

Reading, writing, traveling, music, and video games. Yes, I’ve never been able to shake my childhood love of video games and currently play a lot on Nintendo Switch.

Music, Movies, and Books

For music, I love classic stuff like the Beatles, Neil Young, and Pink Floyd. My guilty pleasure is jam bands, especially Phish.

I don’t watch too many movies these days but I’ll always gave a special place in my heart for Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

I was an English major in college; I still love reading and read all kinds of books. My favorite author is Dostoyevsky but I’ve more recently gotten into Haruki Murakami.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After graduating college, I moved to China on a whim and lived there for ten months teaching English.
