Overview
About Me
27 year old backpacking the globe with my wife Bianca. Passionate chef that loves to learn about all different kinds of foods and cuisine. And im always down for late night food adventures.
My wife and I are using our travels as a way to immerse ourselves in local culture. Although we still want to see all of the big sights and sounds of major cities accross the globe, we are more focused on getting off the beaten track, and away from the hoards of tourists to live like locals of wherever we may be. We find that to experience a country in this way is more fulfilling as it gives us a greater appreciation and understanding of the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The reason I'm on Couchsurfing is because I see it as a way to live like a local. Staying with a native of a city is a huge help in being able to not only learn about the city where I am staying, but also to find the smaller, local eateries that I would never find unless a local had either taken me there or told me where it is. I feel the true essence of a city is its food. From street food stalls in the alleys of Mexico, to hole in the wall restaurants in the USA, to restaurants hidden behind shoe shops in Malaysia, I love it all. (Not to mention, the best places in my native Melbourne will never be found unless I show them to you).
Interests
As I've said, I'm a very passionate chef and the cuisine I specialize in is Texan BBQ. I love firing up the smoker early in the morning, then sitting back and relaxing playing video games (Fallout 4, The Witcher 3, The Last of Us, Doom are some of the favorites) and tending to the BBQ all day. Once the BBQ is finished, flick the tv on for a UFC event and chow down. Thats my ideal Sunday.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music -
From the moment I got my first CD at 5 years old (Freak Show by an Australian band called Silverchair), I have been a metalhead. Although as I have gotten older I have a larger appreciation for music as a whole (and there's nothing better than a little east coast hip hop for a relaxing Sunday afternoon), I am always on the look out for new metal bands that could be the next big thing. I love hearing them grow and mature from a scratchy 5 track demo to a groundshaking, epic, 12 track monster of an album.
Movies and TV shows -
Way to many to list.
At the moment, any documentary about any subject, Im happy to sit down and watch. I love to learn about anything. My mind craves new and interesting concepts and ideas and docos are a great way to fuel that craving.
Books -
The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx.
It is one of the most graphically intense views into a life that many people dream of, yet almost no one attains. That of a rock star god. Truly an incredible read.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went swimming with sharks! It was for my 21st birthday and was one of the best things I have ever done. I love predatory animals like sharks, wolves, birds of prey etc, so it was a real highlight of my life.
The memory that stands out was that i came up to poke my head above a large rock to see what was around to have a 12 foot Grey Nurse shark swimming directly at my face. So. Many. Teeth. It was incredible.
Another one that really stands out is being able to navigate a dog sled team of 10 Huskies and Malamutes through the Mt Buller Reserve in Australia.
I am a huge dog lover and Huskies are my number 1 favorite. Bearing such a close resemblance to wolves, and seeing them in their natural environment, running through the cold and the snow, was incredible. We also got to hang out with all of the dogs, 30 in total, after the adventure. I was like kid at Christmas =D
